Should have done that many years ago.

This replaced the original unit in a van from 20 years ago which had a large transformer and some circuit boards. overheat until the thermal switch trips. This device is silent as long as neither of its two fans is running. Plus, it has a smart (uh) charger. Installation was pretty easy except for the battery cables. In the old system they came from below, but in this one they came from above. This took the most time to complete the installation. One point that could be an issue is the lack of…

Works as it should. Get a trailer for this. Problems without 12V load.

I bought this unit, PD4645V, to replace what I have on my fifth wheel. Installation was fairly easy considering how poorly designed the factory electrical system is. It comes with a new switch panel that I used. Distance The board has an LED and a "Loadmaster" button. It is inconvenient, as it is usually hidden by the control panel cover. Take the Loadmaster's pendant and hang it somewhere easy to access. But of course the hanging end of the cable (phone plug) doesn't fit into this converter…

So far a great replacement/upgrade for my old parallax converter

While Progressive Dynamics have been making new converters for lithium batteries. The size of the one I was looking at was a bit too big for my trailer. After reading the reviews about it and deciding to believe the reviews, I bought it. The instructions were easy enough and the YouTube videos are always helpful. Installed a month and a half ago. I ended up using the fuse box that came with it as my old one didn't have reverse polarity protection. Gave me a good reason to add another circuit to

Fits perfectly in place of the old block.

Replaces a similar unit that burned out due to a fault in the shore power wiring. Installation was a little tricky and required reading the instructions to get it right. No manly grand piano like I try to do with Swedish furniture assembly. The guide will show you different scenarios depending on which device you currently own. Mine was a bit different than everyone else, but it gave me enough understanding that I could do the job myself. This required replacing the DC board which was a bit of…

I should have bought it 10 years ago.

The converter on our old motorhome has finally made its mark. One of these has been on my wish list for a long time. Jesus, this works so well. We used to drive into the desert a lot, which made life a lot easier for us. It would also pay for itself at least once by saving batteries if I leave it on for long periods of time. The installation was really very easy and the instructions are excellent. My Winnebago had an extra cable and the colors of the cables were not what I expected (black is…

High electrical hum

I bought this unit to replace the Parallax 7345 inverter (not a fan). The noise stops as soon as I turn on any of the 12 volt bulbs. Studies show that this is a bad contact on the circuit board. I contacted Progressive Dynamics to inquire about a replacement. For now, we either have to turn off the converter when we sleep or leave the lights on. Very annoying. I will update my rating based on support response. Upgraded from 1 to 4 stars: Progressive Dynamics contacted me within 24 hours of…

Pros
  • Chargemaster Built-in 4-stage charging system greatly increases battery life
Cons
  • Generally good, but...

I am an electrical engineer and did the installation myself in about 3.5 hours. The system is a big improvement over my old Parallax 6345: it charges faster and the battery doesn't boil as much. There were some issues with the installation guide. They tell you to unplug nine household 12v wires from the old panel and then reconnect them to the new one. In my case (Parallax 6345 replacement) the wires were soldered to the old panel so I had to cut them off and clean the ends. The sag was only…
