4. QNAP, very satisfied customer

As a power user with more than 10 terabytes of data, I have to save, good storage for the price of a home user is hard to come by. This is my 4th Qnap which is now a backup for my TS-963x. Highly recommended, it's light years compared to a standard 1 or 2 bay consumer NAS. The integrated hybrid backup is huge, it backs up to idrive with ease.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • shaky

setup the data store

Setup was a pain at first, it didn't see the NAS hard drive so I turned off the NAS and checked everything again, reinstalled the hard drive and everything worked great, good man Start, not as easy as wd personal cloud, but much better than wd personal for security, but it takes a long time to set up, but I like my qnap very much

Pros
  • Looking good
Cons
  • Exchange Availability

Very good device to compare

I like the design but the software confused me a lot. Tech support has done their best but there is still an issue that they cannot or will not fix. There are about 20 applications for different tasks and the speed is good, the setup isn't as easy as they sell. I'm new to NAS and I'll tell you that you should look at the requirements and file systems, permissions and storage plan before you buy.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

Not the NAS I was looking for

You need a QNAP TS-431KX. let me explain. We use multiple QNAP rackmount NAS at work and need a device for backup when we're away from the office. We first tried the single disk NAS TS-131K. Had to return it after finding out you can't use a regular USB case to expand the storage; You must use the QNAP model extension device. We then tried the TS-431K 4-bay NAS. Had to return it after realizing it was running slow due to lack of RAM. In addition, the memory is integrated and cannot be upgraded.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • You could have chosen a newer model

Does what it's supposed to do but instructions

This device does what it's supposed to do, but the first install sucked. The instructions for setting up the two drives were the worst. and CS was slow to respond.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Security

you could do better

If that's what you're looking for, then you're looking for mass storage for photos, videos or whatever you need to store. However, it's too expensive in my opinion, if you build your own computers you can do better than this one. Too little processor power and 1 GB RAM are not acceptable for 2021. When multiple people have access to it, it quickly becomes slow. But since this NAS is mostly only accessed by me, it's okay, even two or three people can access it at the same time and everythingโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Network Storage
Cons
  • Concise Manual

UPDATE: DO NOT BUY IF YOU PLAN TO MIGRATE YOUR DRIVES! I contacted QNAP support and now I know I was robbed! It turns out that even though I used their "NAS migration" (a retail feature) the old file system is "unsupported" so I migrated to a brand new device which they don't support until I reformat it (what I did) . try to avoid migration in the first place). iSCSI is not working properly and I have no hope of a fix after they declared the configuration as unsupportedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Storage
Cons
  • Some small things

(Redesigned and downgraded due to constant instability and extremely slow response after update to recent reboot.) Oddly enough, there was a review on YouTube by some self-proclaimed NAS experts assured the audience that Synology is more about applications and QNAP is more about stable hardware and software. Don't believe nonsense. QNAP NAS as a whole has a group of very inexperienced hardware developers who have chosen a Revain daughter CPU that claims to outperform most NAS CPUs. IT IS NOTโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Out of fashion
