It helps my 14-yr-old Bengal with mobility maintenance

To date, my senior fur "kid" is still able to jump up various levels of the cat tree. It appears to work well for senior cats - I also add Cat Life Extension Mix into her food & some finely sliced up freeze-dried chicken breast to make it more appealing for her. To firm up her stools, I add a teeny dab of Luxolite Bentonite Clay & mix it up with her wet food, as she is no longer able to eat dry, hard food.

Pros
  • I like the product but it’s been very hard to purchase. The price keeps going up!
Cons
  • Too much gravy in each can

Trust Royal Canin to give your cat exactly what it need

I’ve only fed my cat, Zinger, Royal Canin since she was eight weeks old. When she turned twelve, I switched her to this, and she’s been running around the house right after she eats it: it must be good. Our Vet always says how she’s the perfect weight, and not fat like other cats that are fed cheap dry food. I hope she lives another 12 years, and really trust Royal Canin.

Pros
  • This food is for our 10+ cats. They love the flavor and it is made for senior cats.
Cons
  • Pricey compared to other senior cat food brands

It accomplished my cats weight gain!

My cat is 17 and diabetic. She has to have 2 shots a day. This is so she can gain some weight. I’d rather have the loaf instead as she doesn’t have very many teeth left. So I have to mush it up for her everyday which isn’t too much of a problem otherwise it falls out of her mouth. We love our fur babies anything’s worth keeping them around a little longer 😻

Pros
  • The sleek canned packaging not only provides excellent protection to the food but is also easily stackable
Cons
  • May cause cats to develop bacterial infections due to low quality ingredients

BEST PURCHASE for my little guy

My little guy is 17 years old and was getting very thin even though he was eating 2 cans of food a day and dry food throughout the day. He now begs for his food and eats the entire can, and has gained weight too. I can tell he feels much better and he is getting back to himself. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FOOD.

Pros
  • Royal Canin Senior Cat Food promotes healthy lean body mass by utilizing optimized nutrients
Cons
  • May cause cats to suffer from inflammation due to low quality ingredients

Wonderful product for our Senior Cat

Our 13 year old cat loves this food! Unlike other senior feline products we have tried, it is kind to her digestive system, and she does does not regurgitate. Her energy level is way up and her coat is extremely shiny. We had friends over recently who have not met her, and they thought she was only a year old! Thanks for a great product, keeping our girl healthy for many more years.

Pros
  • It provides sustained energy release over an extended period, making it especially beneficial for senior cats with limited physical activity
Cons
  • May cause cats to have hip problems due to lack of beneficial ingredients

Great Product for Older Cats

If you have a cat that's 10+, you'll read tons of articles that say they need more water/wet food. Dry food is harder on their kidneys (may be the liver. please verify for yourself). After a week on this food, his energy, mobility, and even how friendly he is took a serious uptick. Is it expensive, yes. Is it worth it, to me and my cat, absolutely. One minor note: the recommended serving size is 2 cans. We only give him 1 a day in conjunction with dry food.

Pros
  • It contains probiotics that aid with digestion and maintain particularly healthy gut microflora
Cons
  • Not recommended for cats with cancer

My senior cat liked this!

My senior kitty seemed to like this type and the ingredients are good. His favorite is still Friskies, so I switched back due to the cost. My little garbage gremlin has cheap tastes.

Pros
  • It is made with high-quality ingredients that provide the necessary nutrients for maintaining good health
Cons
  • Not recommended for cats with health problems

This food is a bit stinky. My theory is that stink makes food more appetizing to my cat. She's a senior cat with kidney issues who is not super picky in general, but will reject food sometimes. She would very rarely eat the prescription food we bought her .She has so far never rejected this food and that's very valuable to me since I'm trying to keep her weight up. It's also got good ingredients for a kitty with weak kidneys.

Pros
  • The thin slices in gravy make it easier for the cat to chew and swallow, reducing the risk of choking or other complications
Cons
  • May cause cats to develop stomach problems due to low quality ingredients

I read good things but my senior cat did not like it

Is a reputable brand. But my senior cat did not like it. This recipe is very smelly. I actually had to move my cat's dish out of the kitchen so I didn't have to smell it.

Pros
  • The food is formulated with a balanced blend of carbohydrates and proteins to maintain steady energy levels in senior cats
Cons
  • May cause cats to have heart problems due to low quality ingredients

Bengals love it good for me

He loves this food. My 12 yr old Snow races to his bowl every morning, good company, they shipped wrong amount but fixed the mistake within a day and no returns on food so that was very good of them to get it here so fast. I will order from them again.

Pros
  • It is free from artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives, making it a healthier choice for your cat
Cons
  • Not recommended for cats with heart problems

My cat eats this with gusto.

I like the convenience of the pouches. My cat can get 2 meals from 1 pouch. He likes the flavor and moistness of the food. Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • Wet
Cons
  • Not recommended for cats with food sensitivities

My cat has been eating Royal Canin for more than a year now after I was told I needed to reduce the amount of phosphorus in his food. Previously he preferred dry food which isn't so great apparently for cat kidneys. I started experimenting with the lowest phosphorus canned foods and worked my way through the list until we got to Royal Canin 12+. He loves it. He seems to love the taste and cleans his bowl. I usually top off the can with water before I feed him and it makes a little more gravy…

Pros
  • The food has a balanced mineral content that promotes healthy urinary tract function
Cons
  • May cause cats to have mobility problems due to lack of beneficial ingredients

Great food for older cats!

My cat is 13 years old and her age was showing in her activity level and in her movements. I was concerned about her joint health as she was having difficulty making certain jumps (jumps onto the bed, couch, cat tree, etc.); I tried giving her joint supplement treats but she hates them. I started looking for other ways to trick her into taking joint supplements and that was when I found Royal Canin for 12+! I decided to let my cat try it and to my surprise she loved it. Now she is getting the…

Pros
  • Royal Canin has years of experience in developing specialized food for senior pets, so you can trust their expertise
Cons
  • Not recommended for cats with behavioral problems

Old man cat says yes!

Our 15-year-old make cat likes this food. He cleans his plate with this one. It’s so good he doesn’t even barf it back up on the rug! It must be doing good things for his aging metabolism, since he started indulging in this yumminess his weight has stabilized.

Pros
  • The product has been designed with the specific nutritional needs of senior cats in mind
Cons
  • May cause cats to develop liver disease due to low quality ingredients

Marked Difference in her Energy Levels/Coat/Skin

I wrote a bit about this in my review of the Royal Canin kitten food and decided to come back and write a review on the elder food as well since it has been such a change for my old girl. After about 1.5 months of eating Royal Canin she has gone from an old, crotchety grandma cat to a romping and playful kitty with an absolutely beautiful coat. She SHINES both in her attitude and her fur. In addition, for years we have worked with veterinarians due to what we believed to be either a skin…

Pros
  • Food
Cons
  • May cause cats to have bowel problems due to low quality ingredients

Get over the $ its worth it

I put off buying and trying this brand because of the expense. My 19 year old cat eats this fast and does NOT throw up. I wish the portion size was larger for the price

Pros
  • The product has been clinically tested to ensure its digestibility and palatability
Cons
  • May cause cats to have back problems due to lack of beneficial ingredients

Great food for picky senior cats

We adopted an elderly Persian cat from a rescue who refused to eat anything but the crappiest dry food. As dry food is extremely bad for their kidneys, and at her age she needed all the help she could get, we tried over a dozen varieties of the highest quality raw, grain-free, organic, etc etc wet foods. I bought a can of this out of desperation, and FINALLY! A wet food she enjoys. The ingredient list in this one is not what I would prefer for a cat - we normally feed Fussie Cat which is a…

Pros
  • Cat-wet-food
Cons
  • May cause cats to have liver problems due to low quality ingredients

It worked! best in my review

The old, finicky cat ate the food! And she's meowing for more. The cat (13 years young) had been turnung away from food for 2 weeks following some gastrointestinal upset. We tried Crave grain-free. She'd eat a bite and walk away. She'd lost so much weight that you could feel all of the bones in her spine. Let's hope this resolves the issue for this cat and yours as well.

Pros
  • It comes in an easy-to-open can, making mealtime quick and stress-free for both you and your cat
Cons
  • May cause cats to develop cancer due to low quality ingredients

The texture is perfect for elderly cats.

I adopted a 15 year old cat 2 months ago. She's in the beginning of kidney failure. She and the cat we adopted with her both absolutely love this food. They ate other canned brands slowly, leading to spoilage. There's no waste with Royal Canine. It has lots of gravy and tiny cubed chunks, just right for an elderly cat to pick up with her teeth or lick. I will stay with this brand for the rest of their lives.

Pros
  • The food is formulated to support renal function, which can be a major concern for senior cats
Cons
  • Not recommended for cats with immune system problems
