Disappointed - Finishing, Sealers & Stains

I bought this in hopes of using it to seal a meat block countertop. I waited 48 hours for it to dry/cure and the product did absolutely nothing other than a slight change in the color of the wood. It still looks like regular wood without a protective coating. I was under the impression that this product would cure to create a protective waterproof barrier. I was hoping that a product in this price range would do more.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Everything OK

Small things have a big impact.

Good oil finish. Only having to apply 1 coat instead of 10 saved me a lot of time, I couldn't resist applying 2 coats. It's such a small jar that I was nervous I wasn't going to have enough, but I used it for the intended project, plus a few more, and there was still half left. Measure and mix the right amount with a syringe, wait a few minutes and polish. Oh, and do yourself a favor and read the instructions.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Frequency

Good product / bad packaging

Nice wood finish but the jars don't close properly. You'd think they could pack it a little better at this price point. I sealed the lids as best I could and placed them in ziplock bags. Update from 23.09. Rubio Monocoat USA recommended I contact Green Supply to see if they would work with me on the above issue. Buy directly from Rubio in Austin, Texas. NOT FROM GREEN SUPPLY. Green Supply conceded when they discovered the accelerator didn't respond well to air and recommended I buy more of them

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Expensive

Good things, watch out for rags!

I really liked the application and look of the finish. It doesn't bleed like a polyurethane-based finish, so you don't have to worry about applying perfectly even coats or seeing your strokes through the finish. I applied it with a brush, let it sit for ten minutes and then wiped "dry" with a lint-free cloth. Actually managed to do a small repair (sanding) during coating - try poly! **WARNING** Heed the warning and dispose of soiled rags properly. Mine spontaneously caught fire overnight…

Pros
  • beautiful thing
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Absolutely lives up to manufacturer's promises

I used this product to finish the bed frame in raw tulip poplar wood. At a ratio of 3 parts wax to 1 part accelerator, I was able to assemble the frame 24 hours after coating. I used a white pad of 3M Scotch Brite for application and a second to apply the finish to the wood before wiping off the excess with a rag. (There is a very good video online that describes this process. Just look up The Wood Whisperer, How to Apply Rubio Monocoat to Furniture.) There was a slight odor for about a week…

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Some issues

Great for meat block countertops!

Frustrated with using beeswax protectants we sanded it off our carving block countertops and applied this product. Wooden surface with enclosed yellow spatula. The end result is not very satisfactory! You'll feel like you haven't done anything - the dry finish looks and feels the same as it did before application, but I assure you the wood is protected. In our case we were out of town for about a month so it had some curing time before we used the countertops. They don't take that much time…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • OK

worth your money!

Amazing! Made this whole 38x96 maple table in one small package. I didn't have a buffer available so we used the included scraper and automatic manual buffer pads to get it all done. It was the first big wood project I've ever done and this monocoat worked great. Very easy to use, don't worry about streaks and brush marks, just apply the wax and remove. Very durable. Gave it a week to dry but did the bottom of the table first and immediately flipped and made the top so I could do the whole…

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • A few little things
