This lens is ok / zoom worked with my a6300 and Sony Alpha remote

This is a good lens. It's not a full-frame lens, but I did find a nice feature - the ability to zoom in and out using the Sony Alpha remote. I used this lens with my Sony a6300 for face segments in video. Don't expect a Zeiss "3D look" from this lens. 4K video shot with this lens didn't come close to the quality of Sony Zeiss or Zeiss lenses in my opinion. That said, for an E-mount zoom lens, this is still a great price in my opinion.

Good lens with limitations

This lens is excellent in a number of ways: 1. It has a fairly wide focal length range: 18-105mm, which is equivalent to 27-158mm full frame. This is unusual for standard zoom lenses. Many zoom lenses have focal lengths around 18-70mm for APS-C or 28-70mm/28-105mm for full-frame.2. Constant f/4 aperture. At 105mm, f/4 is pretty impressive considering its size and weight.3. power zoom. Great for video recording. The zoom speed is variable. Why not 5 stars? Here's why: 1. The lens is noticeably…

Very versatile travel lens

I spent about half a month arguing between this lens and a Zeiss 16-70mm lens before finally deciding to buy it. I can only say that I am very satisfied with my decision. Took it on a 2 week hike in Switzerland and ended up being the only lens I needed. The scope is extremely versatile, focusing is fast and accurate 85-90% of the time, and I love the color and quality of my photos. I've read reviews where people complained about the size of the lens, but honestly it's really not that heavy and…

Really nice but a bit slow.

Nice lens. Nicely built, a bit big but not as fancy as the A6000. I like the internal focus and zoom. Makes you feel like you're shooting high-end glass. Fairly clear recordings, maybe not as clear as the Zeiss alternative I've heard but clear enough. It also has quite a creamy bokeh for F4. There's definitely that "something" about a lens that's hard to define, but it separates your favorite lens from the one you leave in your bag. You'll hear about the horrific distortion of this lens, but…

Great lens for Super 35mm digital cinema.

Very very happy with this lens! I use it on my FS700 shoulder mount and it fits the bill. image stabilization; Sony face detection, programmable focus with FS700, very easy breathing, very useful zoom range (27-157mm 35mm equivalent), servo zoom with FS handle. For the price, this is actually an unbeatable offer. I have over 50 lenses, some are 5 times more expensive than this, and this is the one I shoot with as a portable lens. Look at how much a servo lens with a comparable zoom range costs…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Not happy with everything

Great lens for almost every situation

I'm not a professional photographer and not even an enthusiast, I've been trying to learn more about my camera and what it takes to get the best possible results. I bought this lens for the Sony A6000 for several reasons.1. The constant opening of F.4 throughout the range has interested me a lot since my daughter started gymnastics. the lighting in the gym is not the best).2. Having a lens that gives me a fairly wide-angle or near-telephoto lens in one package, especially when trying to use it…
