Sounds good and improves performance/mpg

Volant Cooling Intake sounds great on our car and improves performance and mpg! We have an SUV that we put it in and haven't had a single issue with it on many off-road adventures, road trips and daily commutes. etc. Indeed it was a great purchase, not too expensive but a great product. I would highly recommend Volant and seek out if you have never heard of them, they have good reviews and good products.

2011 Frontier Pro 4x6 Speed Manaul

So far 19.6 mpg city and highway to be determined. It's a drive through a small town. City mpg increased by 2+ mpg. The only downsides: slightly more noise than the factory airbox when overclocking (sounds through); and I noticed a dead zone between 1500 and 2100 rpm (within the range) that is imperceptible on a factory airbox. Overall, this is a significant improvement over the factory airbox. This is in manual gearbox with 4.0 v6.

It looks and sounds great, but I've had a few.

It looks good and the sound is great but I was confused for a few moments. My air mass meter did not fit in the housing. I had to adjust it. I didn't realize it had a cutout for my horns. What I don't like is that you need a hose adapter. The screw holes didn't line up with the airbox, so it wasn't easy to line up the airbox properly. Vibration at idle was too strong. I had to add rubber grommets in several different places to stop the vibration.

Great and instant results.

The sound in the cab is amazing and the fuel economy is up a few miles per gallon. The throttle response is a bit sluggish at first, the engine has of course adapted and of course the tuning has worked wonders. I've used it on my 2012 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x and it's great for boosting low rpm power by increasing airflow. Also it has a gasket at the top which I don't seem to know if this is to prevent water from entering from the top but there is a small hole at the bottom of the filter box…

Not quite ready for prime time

Valance makes a good product, this product is not one of them. This unit's cold air box has an open cutout at the bottom to accommodate a 2010 Nissan Frontier horn in the engine bay. You can reset the horn with the hardware that came with a previous version of this kit, but the cutout remains and, in my opinion, defeats the purpose of the system (i.e. engine swallowed). I returned this for a refund. An earlier model (without the cutout and horn relocation kit) might fit in a 2010 truck, but I…

  • Not only useful for intended purpose
Cons
  • So far so good

needs work filter

one hell of a boost! It definitely increases the amount of horsepower, but the mpg seemed to drop a bit and I wasn't pedaling hard. 2 things, this 2010 Frontier model has an extra port pointing directly at the fan blades (cold air?!) that needs to be sealed somehow. The installation is difficult as far as the box is concerned. Once you find a good sealant to attach the gasket to the wing inlet, put the screws in the box before the top bracket, otherwise you won't be able to put them in the…
