Wedge edges too sharp

Wedge edge was too sharp and on first use it broke through the zip tie I had attached to the back of the chair. Made the husband take off the eighth of an inch, blunt it, and then he didn't break the strap.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Crumpled

Softwood is not for longer projects or wet materials

These wedges were originally great for the backs of mid-century dining chairs. Unfortunately, due to the need to pre-soak the cane, the ends of the wedges began to flatten, flake and no longer fit in the slotted channel. So I had to shave them a bit or wait for them to dry and sand them again. Although it's been great so far!

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

The wood is of good quality and wedge-shaped. Fits the purpose!

The good news is that there are wood wedges and they work. They're made of wood, which is good. With all these wedges, they sometimes seem small to me. A new thing I learned about inserting a pre-woven cane into the groove is to use 1/2 clothespins. Wedges can hold the cane in place, but you need better tools than these wedges to get the cane in place. I've tried many different products, the clothespin has to be one of the easiest and most effective.

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • So far so good
