not for cutting knives

I like the look of the ruler and it's useful for marking a jagged edge on a quilt. However, I tried three different sizes of rotary bits and none of them could fit in the grooves. So I had to mark the curves first and then go back and cut out the curves. Duplicate work but I think the ruler helped me mark the lines accurately. Just not for the purpose I wanted it for.

Pros
  • I'll keep my fists
Cons
  • In exchange

I had to use it as a stencil and draw circles on my fabric.

I had to use it as a template and draw circles on the fabric and then cut them out with scissors. I couldn't find a cutting machine that would work with this circle cutter. Using it as a template worked well but added an extra step - I had to cut 100 circles for the quilt I'm making and it would be quicker if I could use a disc cutter.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Not everything is as good as it says

The template is good, but what cutter are you using?

I should have read all the reviews before purchasing this template. I bought an 18mm cutter (olfa) and it didn't fit the wheels properly. The blade was too short to even touch the fabric. I'm returning the Revain Cutter as I don't need it yet. I keep the template to myself. I could trace inside the circle with a pen to show the outline and then cut out the fabric with scissors. Others have also mentioned that a 38mm cutter won't work either.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons

I didn't get consecutive rounds

Unfortunately, this tool was not a good choice for precision circle cutting. I couldn't get it to work well with my little rotary cutter (Olfa). After many failed attempts at cutting out precise circles, I figured this was a tool grandkids could have that would satisfy their less precise circle needs. Back to finding the best way to make lots of big circles quickly and without wasting a lot of fabric. This would be a great device that does rounds if you're not aiming for precision (which is…

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

I did not purchase the special rotary knife

I've never used a ruler to cut circles but had a quilt in mind that I wanted to try and thought it was time to try one of these. I was not disappointed. I did NOT purchase the included rotary cutter, it is sold separately. I've used my Olfa 28mm circle cutter for a few circle sizes with some success. For the ones that didn't work I just used a marker and cut them out with scissors. Maybe I'll use the ruler like this in the future. It was easier than maneuvering around a spinning cutter and it…

Pros
  • . Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic

Drunkard's Path Cheat Template

I bought this ruler to use to make Drunkard's Path squares. I'm not a fan of single-purpose tools, I really didn't want to buy a drunkard's path pattern that only works for a certain block size, and using paper patterns to cut curves was trickier than I wanted to get with my first foray into sewing of nested curves. When I looked at this line, the buyer asked if it would fit drunk street blocks and the seller said no. I figured why not? It has the right curves, they are in half inch diameter…
