Hopefully reliable.

Together with SmartThings Hub it works as expected I believe. I didn't leave my truck in the garage to fill the house with toxic smoke and I didn't set fire to anything inside so I can't say it's 100% working. If this doesn't work and I die in my house without warning I will come back and update this review and also sue the manufacturer.

FALSE ALARM, short lifespan, overpriced and now just a buzzer.

Bought in December, put in an alarm clock in April. It only lasted four months. New batteries have been installed in the device, removed and re-added to SmartThings multiple times. Exclusion reset and factory reset performed more than once. But about 30 seconds after turning it on, the alarm sounds. Other non-intelligent detectors work fine. It's just bad quality. Expensive and useless now.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Almost everything ok

We had a fire. You helped save our house.

We had a fire. They worked. I was 30 miles from my home and was able to call 911. Firefighters entered the home and removed the smoldering object. Apart from the smoke, the house was saved. This is really the best rating I can give. In a bit more detail: I have 4 of these connected to my Abode Home Security System (simple). As the smoke started the fire alarm went off and the Abode security system went off immediately which is also configured to set off these alarms and send an attention…

False alarm! The Best Combined Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms

In less than 6 months all 3 of them I bought started giving false alarms too often. The first in our bedroom started a few months after purchase. The batteries showed almost full capacity when they started to run out (the battery level is reported to Smart Things via ZWave), and none of them showed less than 79%. There was no smoke or other occurrences in our home. Conditions weren't particularly dusty and 2 of the 3 were installed away from ceiling fans (I've read that this can cause false…

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

I just got this and set it up but then thought about how to test the system. I called the ring and found out that the support people don't know very well about this device, even at multiple levels of customer support, and can give false information about it. In the end, I was told very clearly that this Z combo device could somehow just trigger a notification through the ring. and there is no way to verify this operation. It definitely cannot trigger a real fire alarm or a fire alarm system in…

Pros
  • Great for a small home

We had SMOKE! They didn't work BUT I love it!

My pellet stove caught a strange wind and filled the house at 2am! I had these on SmartThings 2 and it just sounded like a different brand (unaffiliated). I received it on January 24th, 2018, probably a few days later I installed it. Because most of us (I guess) never touch them again. An event took place on January 12, 2019. The pellet stove somehow returned smoke to the house (no fire) and another sensor in another part of the house woke me up, I found the cause, ventilated the house with 20*

May have saved my life.

I posted this review on Revain.com for First Alert 2-in-1 Z-Wave Smoke Detector and Carbon Monoxide Detector. This device, along with the Ring Home Security System and Ring Professional Monitoring System, may have saved my life. I bought this CO/Smoke Detector/Alarm to integrate with my RING home security system. I believe this detector/alarm may have saved my life. I was sitting in my family room when both this alarm and the ring home alarm went off. At that time I burned a small stick of…
