Good walkie-talkie for driving cars and not only

This winter, we decided to go on vacation with two families with children, and since there were too many of us for one car, we had to go in two. In order to make it more fun to ride, and even easier, we decided to buy a walkie-talkie for communication. We went to the nearest DNS store, where there is quite a decent assortment to choose from. Since I had never used such equipment before, I first opened the Internet and read which companies would be better and what you need to pay attention to (I will tell you about this in the review). After looking at the options offered in the store, my friend and I decided that it was not worth saving. There were options for 3,000 rubles each, but after reading their characteristics, it became clear that these would not be negotiations, but torment. As a result, we opted for radios from the well-known manufacturer Motorola. I personally associate this brand with the E398 phone, which was very popular in my teenage years. But even now this company is one of the leaders in the production of radio communications. They cost then about 6500 rubles, there was also a discount on the card, so we decided that for two it would be quite an acceptable price. For convenience, they come immediately in a small-sized fabric portable bag, which is equipped with both a handle and a lock, and, of course, an embroidered letter M as the brand logo. Having opened the bag, we see that it consists of two compartments, in which we will store both the walkie-talkies themselves and all the necessary accessories. It all fits quite easily, but itโ€™s still more correct to store them as shown in this photo in special compartments. The upper compartment is designed to store documentation, but if it is not needed, then you can store other components, and not necessarily from the radio itself. This photo shows that even having laid everything casually and in a chaotic manner, we will still place the components in the bag without any problems. As for the available documentation, here we see a sandal warranty card and instructions in more than ten languages. I would also note that the kit comes with a very convenient mini USB charger, which allows us to charge two radios at the same time with one wire. Full charge time is about 8 hours. Now let's move on to the radios themselves. There are two of them in the kit, they are quite bright yellow-black in color, which is a big plus for the same hunt, where they can be lost in the grass. Now let's take a closer look at what a walkie-talkie includes on one model. On the right side, we see the charging socket, which is closed with a special rubberized plug to prevent dirt or moisture from getting in. As for the antenna itself, it should be treated with particular care and not allow the radio to fall, as this can lead to its failure. On the back side, we see a special mount, which is necessary if you want to mount the walkie-talkie on your belt and the compartment in which the batteries are located. To remove the batteries, you need to follow two simple steps. The first is to remove the mounting cover by simply pressing on its base. This is done very easily and no effort is needed. Next, we see a small button for switching, on which an open and closed lock is drawn. Having transferred it to the open lock position, the cover itself is removed and we see the battery compartment. Batteries are standard finger-type, and even if they are discharged, they can be replaced with conventional batteries. By the way, they hold native batteries very worthy, with fairly active work they last almost a day. On the right side we see several buttons at once. The largest of them is the button required for the conversation. Its essence is quite simple - just press it and speak. For better sound quality, it must be kept at a distance of about 30 centimeters from the mouth. Below it is a convenient pairing button, which will allow you to quickly find a channel on two walkie-talkies at the same time. Below is the emergency button. The top button allows us to turn on the flashlight. And let the summer shine too much, but in the dark it may well come in handy. On the front side of the walkie-talkie are the main buttons for setting the mode you need and the speaker, into which you need to speak during negotiations. On the top side we see the volume control and the inclusion of devices, as well as the microphone input. When turned on, the walkie-talkie display lights up in blue, and on the display we can see the current settings. The top number shows us the channel number we are currently in Clear. There are always eight channels here, somewhere on the forum I read that they seem to be 16 and only 8 are allowed on the territory of Germany, but I didnโ€™t manage to find more channels. The bottom number shows us the subcode. I would dwell on it in more detail, since this is a rather important point when choosing a radio station. The subcode helps us to reduce the amount of noise and set the sound to be as clear as possible, so the more bands the better. Here their figure is 121 and this is quite a good indicator. The radio itself has compact dimensions - width 57 mm, height 181 mm, length 33 mm and its weight is only 197 grams, so it is practically not felt in the hand. By pressing the talk button, we see that the letters Tx are lit up under the channel number, which means signal transmission. On the second radio at this time, Rx lights up, indicating signal reception. Changing channels is quite simple - first we press the lower left button, after which the upper digit starts flashing. After that, with the plus and minus buttons, we select the channel we need. As for the sound quality, I would call it very decent. Moving in cars at a distance of one or two kilometers, the audibility was excellent and with the correct setting there was no noise. The only thing worth considering is that after pressing the talk button, you must wait a second and then speak, otherwise the first word may be lost. There are also two microphones in the kit that are designed for quiet communication with each other, for example, when hunting. The microphones are of rather average quality, the sound is not the most voluminous, and there is some noise. But the microphone itself is very comfortable, putting it on the ear and fixing it correctly, we can not worry that it will fall when moving, What really struck me was where the lace is attached. Since there are two of them in the kit, at first I started looking for a small hole on the case where they are usually attached. Having not found it and looking at the instructions, I was very surprised when I realized that it was tied from the bottom side. Firstly, it is not convenient, no matter how he ties it, he walks around a little. Well, and secondly, it doesnโ€™t look pretty, because it was possible to make the radio even smaller. As for rough terrain, things are worse with communication than on the road. For example, I tried to hit through a couple of high-rise buildings at a distance of about 800 meters, and then interference began. Another disadvantage that I noticed while hunting is that if you go into some kind of pit or ditch, then the connection will be lost already at a distance of about 500 meters, the signal literally disappears. Conclusion. I liked this walkie-talkie, that it fully justified itself for the purposes that I bought it. For lovers of hunting, of course, it is better to take something more serious, but for road trips I recommend buying it.
