I haven't had this scanner for a long time, so my opinion may change after prolonged use. I liked my decent scanner and this one doesn't impress me (so far). The instructions are pretty sparse, so I haven't figured out all the options yet. Most of what I scan is for electronic filing, and I don't often need to do anything else with my scans, so this should work just fine. If you have more advanced needs I can't talk about that. Purchased to replace the flatbed scanner in my shop. The tablet still worked but I couldn't use it anymore as it wouldn't connect to my new laptop because the tablet used a SCSI interface which the laptop didn't have and the old laptop with the correct port died . Went with sheet feeder instead of USB flatbed as it took up a fifth of the space and is portable so I can take it too far to trade shows, home etc as it's difficult to use the scanner on multiple computers. When I bought this scanner, my main interest was storing documents electronically, not storing them in filing cabinets. I wanted a color duplex scanner. Upon receipt we connected the scanner to three separate computers, loaded the software and the scanner scans correctly, but all images come out as either all black or all white. The troubleshooting guide recommended calibrating the scanner using the supplied calibration sheet. Set yourself up following the getting started guide and on-screen instructions to figure out what you need and an activation key and you've only had a 10-day trial with 3 scans a day. Once you set it up, they want you to spend more money on another program to make this thing work. With some computer experience and software knowledge I was able to get this thing to work (on Windows 8.1), but it was It's not easy and it's confusing. The examples provided did not match what was actually shown on screen during the installation process and was accompanied by long delays for new menus to appear. I only got it yesterday because I have a lot to scan in the next few months and probably over 1000 pages have already been scanned. Setup was very easy and the scanner itself is very light. I'm a pretty sloppy person so it sat on my lap for a few scans and I had no trouble squeezing it while using it.
