Rust loves this product

Really thought I liked this lock. I've owned one for 18 months and have ordered several. Big mistake. I've noticed some people complain that the lock is rusting and can't be removed, I empathize. I currently have a lock on my caravan door that I can't remove, the key turns fine but the pin doesn't fall off, I've tried pulling it down several times with the key turned and the lock unlocked but had no success. The outside of the lock was also rusty, remember this trailer has been in the garage…

Appearances can be deceiving - not recommended for outdoor use

I've only had this lock for 4 weeks (purchased the first week of March - this review date is April 3rd). I needed to add (2) a hydraulic ramp to my toy RV dump truck. When I received the locks I was very impressed. They're heavy, feel well made, and cost less than "big name" brands. I picked up my motorhome from storage yesterday (04/02) and was shocked to see that in just four weeks the locking pins had already rusted through. . One lock was even difficult to open, it was so rusty. When both…

Rust and corrosion are a big issue with this lock

I live in Colorado and purchased this product to secure the rear and side doors of an enclosed cargo trailer that I own and store outside. I also use this trailer to drive on wet roads where the DOT applies a magnesium chloride solution to prevent icing in the fall and winter. After a short period of storage and inactivity (about 45 days) I noticed a serious rust and corrosion problem. It was so bad that I couldn't turn the keyhole to remove the lock that locked the doors of my cargo trailer. I

Do not buy, these do not fit.

When I picked up my trailer I saw this lock on the wall but because they wanted double what Revane paid for them I ordered here and I'm glad I did I did - so the return went smoothly. While this lock is thicker and heavier, it's not quite what you envision for your order. A mortise lock will not work parallel to a flat surface. So when you push the mortise lock mechanism into the lock body, the shank goes in at a slight angle. This makes it impossible to fully insert the mortise lock actuator…

Pros
  • Hands free

  • I don't like it that much, everything is fine
