Mixed feelings about this monitor

First off, I'm no expert on monitors and this is my first mid-range monitor I've used so far. However, I have mixed feelings about this product and my experience with it so far. I used it as my main monitor with a second monitor on top. I use it for gaming, college work, making music and just surfing the web. It doesn't fail in any of them, only excelling in gaming and music production. A continuous view of the channel rack and all the bars makes this a must have for easy production. In games, colors and image quality are secondary, but the size creates a feeling of complete immersion in the game. I think the size can actually make it impossible to see the fine details in games per second, drawing your attention to the center of the big screen. You may have to look away a bit to see the player in the corner. . My biggest concern is the durability of this monitor. I didn't encounter any problems with the product initially, but for the past few weeks (about 3 months after purchase and setting up with regular use) the monitor has not recognized any PC input when I turned on the computer. I thought it was a cable issue, but when I borrowed a new working DisplayPort cable, the monitor still didn't show anything. I could see a faint backlight so I could tell it was on, but nothing happened, nor did it give me any indication of no signal. I read a few other reviews with the same issue. Sounds like a power cycle issue or something. If the problem mentioned were fixed, it would be an easy 4-5 stars for me, but I cannot recommend an expensive product with a serious disadvantage. I'm not sure if this issue will develop any further now that the monitor is fully operational and I agree with occasional inconveniences. I will update this review if the situation changes. ***HOW TO FIX*** Simply unplug the power cord from the monitor and plug it back in. Pros: - This is a great budget option for those who want an ultra wide look but don't want to break the bank. - Picture quality is good for a 2k monitor, it makes a difference especially with such a big screen - Brightness is very good. For my studio bedroom application it even works with a huge west facing window that brings sunlight into my room. At night I have to change the brightness as it can be so bright. - The packaging was very good, well protected with thick foam and in 2 layers of cardboard, it would take considerable effort to damage the monitor inside. - The stand is of good construction and although I don't use it I find the build quality to be above average. The frames are small and not noticeable. One of the few flat/non-curved monitors on the market with this size and refresh rate. / Picture quality. It would be difficult to find another that is priced right for my application. Now for the cons - quality control can be a bit iffy considering the issues I discussed above recur in some comments - colors could be better, feels a little washed out at times - no remote control for settings, lower ones Monitor buttons not difficult to use but tedious to use when I want to dim or remove some of the blue light at night. - The backlight is a joke, the power indicator is miles brighter than the overall backlight - The speakers are pretty much useless for those who like decent sound quality. They also just randomly decide if they work or not, so I wouldn't plan on using them. - The monitor can just programmatically lock up and not accept input, even the monitor buttons won't work when it does, and it has to be unplugged and plugged back in for it to work. Overall this is a solid monitor, especially for the price, but I cannot recommend it without caution.
