Review on Portable Monitor KOGODA Travel Speakers 15.6", 1920X1080P, 60Hz, High Dynamic Range, Z1-5S, HDMI by Andy Owen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Update: Seller refunded the cost of new cables (monitor worked after replacing defective cables)

This update: The seller contacted me and reimbursed me for replacing the cables. The monitor continues to function normally. I'm giving four stars due to issues with the seller who was very pushy in their communication. sometimes it's good, sometimes it's just annoying. If the seller has replaced the cables on the monitors they are currently selling so that they actually work, then this monitor could be a five star purchase for you. So: The monitor turned on and connected to my laptop, but then the screen went black and went into "sleep mode" for a minute to ten minutes! I contacted the seller, he responded promptly, but didn't find a solution - the problem wasn't that I connected it wrong. The size was perfect for my use and there aren't many 13 inch monitors out there so for $50 I replaced all the cables that came with it. It started working as it should and has been working correctly for over a week now so fingers crossed this continues. (I was concerned that the monitor's connections were bad, but since the new replacement cables work, the monitor itself wasn't the problem. Also, I needed an extra dongle to connect it to my MacBook Air, but I knew I could it was needed when i bought it and that wasn't a problem and i don't factor that into the cost of replacement cables.) It comes with a lid which will come in handy if i need to carry it somewhere but the Lid gives poor footing. The grooves that keep it upright aren't deep enough and it kept sliding down. I removed the cover and placed the monitor on a rubber book stand/frame to keep it in place. As a result, yes, I have a working monitor. However, it took a lot of frustrating trial and error and significantly more money to get this thing working. Thank goodness I read a few other monitor reviews that said changing the cables helped and I'm glad I did because I probably wouldn't. Virtual school starts in a few days and this teacher didn't have time to go back and study another monitor! The seller REALLY needs to invest in better cables! I don't usually write such detailed reviews, but I hope this helps people understand what they are actually getting and what additional investments they may need to make. Much luck!
