Adequate HDD Enclosures

I looted this Adequate because it was. It does the job and looks good and it's everything I paid for or needed. It's not the prettiest, sexiest, most perfect and so on. But it's cheap and does the job, so I chose it, and that's the way it is. I would give it five stars if I thought anyone would think that a five star rating was appropriate enough for something. But that's all I wanted.

Pros
  • Grand Prize
Cons
  • Questionable Elderly Buy

My data is best stored in a hard drive case

My XP machine finally died. Luckily it wasn't a hard drive. This enclosure kit is just what I needed to recover data I didn't back up. It also helped locate all of the software I've downloaded over the years. I cleaned out the old hard drive and now we use it as extra storage (copies) for family photos and videos etc, making it easier for each family member to access photos etc without the need for a single computer.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Garbage. Device not recognized in Windows

Garbage. The device is not recognized by Windows. The drive is energized and rotates audibly in the housing. Known good drive too. Not worth the return shipping cost. Garbage.

Pros
  • Wide area
Cons

Turns on properly but needs an update or something

Bought this for my youngest son to put his old Windows Vista hard drive in and get his old stuff out or download Windows Vista from there can. However, when he started Windows 8, now the external hard drive didn't show up at all. The old hard drive was manufactured by Hitachi and needs an update to show up in Windows 8. My youngest son doesn't know where to find an update for this drive and doesn't know how to boot Windows Vista from this hard drive so he needs help.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • For retirees

Impressive quality at a low price!

Worked GREAT for what I needed it for. I had a Western Digital My Book external hard drive that failed after a little over a year. I bought this case hoping I could connect at least one hard drive to it and store all my data. Actually, it should only be temporary. But once I installed a hard drive there, everything worked great and looks great. So now I have a new case for my external hard drive and can use it as usual. Two thumbs up for this case!

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic
