Description of 🔌 Cable Matters Active USB 3.0 Extension Cable with Signal Booster - 10 Meters / 32.8 Feet - Ideal for Hard Drive, Webcam, and More

Active USB 3.0 extension cable extends the connection between a computer and USB peripherals; The USB active extension cable supports the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 data transfer rate up to 5Gbps; Connect a VR headset such as the HTC Vive Cosmos, webcam, USB 3.0 hub, or external hard drive to a computer across the room using this USB to USB repeater cable. Long USB extension cable with an integrated amplification chipset supports data transmission at longer lengths than a passive USB cable; Backwards compatible with USB 2.0 peripherals and cables; Extend an external hard drive cable or a printer cable. Power supply 5V 2A compatible with a 3.5 x 1.35 mm plug with center positive polarity (sold separately); Booster power with a power adapter with a USB3 extension cable is sometimes required with devices requiring more than 900mA of power; USB power may not be sufficient when connecting a USB 3 0 extension cable to a low power USB 3.0 PCIe card port. Superior construction includes gold-plated connectors, bare copper conductors, foil & braid shielding, a power status LED and a Y cable power port with a cable clip for strain relief; The USB extender cable is Sturdy but flexible enough to coil for storage

Works fine, but TEST TEST TEST!

If you have a good one, it works well - impressive speed over such a long cable. Even with a passive extension of 10-15 feet at the end of the device. Solidly built, it has a good "weight". BUT USB 3.0 itself seems very finicky in many ways, so different combinations give different results. What I mean is that a given cable can run at its highest speed on one motherboard port, but on another port on the same motherboard it can fall back to USB 2.0 speeds or anywhere in between. Details at…

Excellent cables: computers and accessories

Excellent cable. My laptop only has 1 USB 3.0 port, so I use these cables to reduce or eliminate signal degradation from my USB tools from my powered USB 3.0 hub. Everything works fine and all my connected devices are recognized immediately. ATTENTION: I originally wanted to use one of these Cable Matters SuperSpeed active USB 3.0 cables to extend the reach of my laptop's USB 3.0 port. BAD IDEA. When I tried this, my laptop couldn't reliably fix the powered hub. He fell repeatedly and found a…

Like me, you wanted more than a daisy necklace.

It works, but there is one big nuance. With USB, there is a limit to how many "hubs" you can daisy chain, and active USB cables are essentially cables with a bus-powered hub in the middle to "repeat" the signal. Well, each of those cables counts as *two* hubs, not just one. This can complicate things a little if, like me, you want to daisy chain more than one of these cables. Two is the limit!

Cons
  • Out of fashion

"Active cable " with power connector. but without an adapter.

Choose this cable because Cable Matters makes a quality product and has positive reviews for Oculus Rift sensors. Bought two of these to set up 4 sensors. The third picture shows it connected to itself at the female end for size reference. Since the price difference with an inactive cable is pretty decent, I was expecting to get something that could actually power the connector they put on the end. If you wish to resell the cable at a higher price please make it a premium product and actually…

I bought this cable to make an Oculus Rift headset interconnect cable

I bought this cable to make an Oculus Rift headset interconnect cable and it works as intended. I tested the CableCreation cable and it worked, but I saw a few complaints about "noise" in their reviews. This worried me that it might be because the content set I was using to test it didn't cause any noise issues, and I will recognize these issues sometime later. I suspect that the cause of these issues is more on the USB 3.0 port side. The maximum cable length supported by the USB 3.0…

3 For my Oculus Rift

The reason for bad reviews is numerous and 99% depends on the end user. This is a USB 3.0 cable. 16) have very poor built-in support for USB 3.0/1. Due to this poor support on motherboards and chipsets, this cable will not work with some settings. I am using it for my Oculus Rift with 4 - YES - 4 sensors - 3 of these cables power 4 of my sensors (my USB 3.0 PCI-e card - can ONLY power TWO of them - THE RIFT HEADSET CANNOT USB -Use extension cords longer than 4ft - FACT This cord will not work…

PC Power Reverse

I used this (with a supported power adapter which I had to purchase separately) for an Oculus Rift sensor. The sensor kept throwing errors, so I turned off the computer and noticed that the lights on my motherboard were still on. I unplugged the power cord from the computer but the lights stayed on! I started unplugging USB devices and as soon as I removed that active power strip, the light went out. It turns out that when you use an external power supply with this adapter, your computer gets…

This will NOT work with Oculus RIFT as is - stay away!

I tested both MonoPrice and this CableMatters active USB cable - works with Monoprice - but has noise in audio in RIFT headset - CableMatters cable doesn't work at all with RIFT Headset. I can see the power cord adapter cord protruding from the extension cord on the side of the unit, but that pretty much defeats the purpose of an extension cord! A separate power cord is connected from the side of the device, that is, two cords. if drive train long enough. On the COMPUTER side, if this was…

  • High support and durability ratings from testers

  • Annoying

Perfect for expanding Oculus Rift sensors at USB 3.0 speeds!

Works great with Oculus Rift sensors, I've been using them for about 2-3 weeks now and haven't had any problems, everything is recognized as USB 3.0 and the room scale works fine. the negative reviews stating it is only recognized as 2.0 blame the wrong guy for the problem. Your computer's USB controller can only handle a certain number of devices, no matter how much current your power supply puts out, no matter how many ports your computer has, the fact is USB controllers have a limited…
