Mediocre thermal management.

Incredibly fast. However, writing to this SSD will cause it to reach heat levels close to the sun's surface, to which it will then drastically slow down, to the point where it stalls. Reading speed is great, but after a few hours of gameplay, you'll notice long loading times and tons of pop-ups.

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • Nothing here

Fast but good for computers and accessories

I don't plan to do anything intensive except clone my MacBook Pro's SSD, so the speed is very good. The cable includes a USB A to C converter for legacy systems. The only complaint right now is that it gets pretty hot under heavy use. Not hot, but I wouldn't put it in your lap. Also, the USB A to C converter is specially attached to the cable. Basically, you can't use it with other USB cables unless you physically change it.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Can't remember

The Perfect Jukebox

With new car owners expecting their phones to listen to music through OTA subscriptions, I still needed a way to store and listen to my CD library. Already copied in a lossless format (.flac), this portable SSD is the perfect solution and allows me to move it between cars. It gets a little warm when in use, but is always cool enough to touch, so don't worry.

  • Pleasant to Use

Works fine but has issues maintaining write speed

I originally wrote this five star review but after a few weeks of use I had to downgrade to three stars. I'm having trouble finding an external SSD that works correctly with macOS Catalina. Some others have horrible reviews, poor performance, and generally don't work properly. What matters first is what works. First, read speeds are as advertised (and twice as fast as SanDisk or Ravpower portable SSDs). I needed an external APFS solid state drive for Final Cut and this drive is perfect for the…

Obsolete in less than 6 months

After less than 6 months of use the drive stopped connecting to computers, Macs and Windows. never liked Connected three times to backup and move files. Contacting Crucial support is a maze. On the disk itself. It is very slow after the cache is full. For the price, WD Black Series gaming drives, both HDD and SSD, are much faster (over 10x faster than the P50) and have been more reliable so far. Even the HDD beats it in speed. Decided to try x8 for SSD stability but didn't expect it to break in

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • So far so good

NOT AS KNOWN, Doesn't work as described

Doesn't open from URL, only shows file. No options other than showing your own files on first backup. Now, just 3 months later, I can't update my computer's backup. Chat support is useless, site support is useless, no troubleshooting solutions found. Is it broken? I think so. I definitely don't have another $115 to throw away and try again. VERY UNSATISFIED WITH THIS PRICELESS PRODUCT.

Pros
  • Very good value
Cons
  • Not bad

It's ok.: Computers & Accessories

I used mine as a backup drive for my MacBook and to put it simply it's not great. First, as you may have read from other reviews, Cache really is what it is. This drive would be fine if you're only transferring small to medium sized files, but should be avoided for large files like backups. Initially it has good speeds, but then it starts to drop and not only does it get unbearably hot.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Clarity
