Worked great! I choose them first because they are.

Worked great! I originally chose these because they are the only USB device on the market that can record video from 200+ feet away. No other USB extender can transmit videos that far. Knowing they are the best, I used them to control my USB mouse. I installed 350 feet of Category 6 cable. I always pay a few dollars more and only use Category 6. I do this for work. It was a $50,000 job, so I didn't want to skimp on cheaper hardware. I have two feelings: If you're using a USB device more than…

Pros
  • Supports all common operating systems - Windows, MacOS and Linux.
Cons
  • Without insurance

Just what I needed

We needed to connect a Logitech HD C615 USB camera in the main part of our office to a Mac Mini in a server closet tens of meters away from us . Based on the Logitech help forums, none of the power strips are working. That helped and we now have a camera that we can use for video conferencing on various platforms including Skype and Google Hangouts. Also, there's no noticeable lag and the audio/video quality is just as good as when the camera was plugged directly into the Mini, which was my…

Pros
  • Running at full speed 480Mbps in USB 2.0 mode
Cons
  • Neutral

Works great with USB cables

Not sure how they would work but I have to say they work great! USB 2.0 extension over 500 feet of single core Cat5e cable. The device has indicator lights for Ethernet, data, USB, and power so you can easily see that everything is working. The case of each device is made of metal, so it seems that they will survive on the road. The power cord is screwed to prevent accidental unplugging. I extend the USB fader control to the lighting console and it works great. Also tested my HP printer…

Pros
  • Uses standard CAT5, CAT5e or CAT6 cables
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

I ordered two, neither fits. Icron Ranger ordered, success.

I ordered two of these kits to expand a pair of Logitech webcams and neither of them worked. I even worked with the Gefen tech support team and had no success. They gave me an RMA number for an exchange but I was short on time so I ordered two Icron Ranger 2201s. The Icrons were plug and play and used the same hardware that I use with the Gefen extenders. Needless to say I am very disappointed with the time and effort I have put into the Gefen product. I was surprised at the lack of…

Does exactly what it should. . .for a fee.

We tried several options before deciding on the Giffen USB Extender. If you are willing to pay the extra amount (which is a whopping amount), you get a powerful, multi-feature expander. So if you have dough, this is what you need!

Pros
  • Supports both low-speed and high-speed USB
Cons
  • Available in white only

Cable quality matters

I've used them for a variety of tasks including connecting a Nikon SLR and having full control of the camera as if the camera next to the computer would be . I don't notice any difference in speed with the device connected to it (although I haven't compared anything) and no disconnects. However, the quality of the cable is very important. Don't expect to get 300 feet of random Revain cable and get the job done. With "random" Cat 5 cable, 50 feet works fine for me. 100 feet starts and…

Pros
  • Works with USB 2.0 peripherals up to 100m from computer
Cons
  • So-so
