discards special characters

This is another PS/2 USB adapter that discards special characters when this button is held down. "Ctrl-P" to move up one line in Emacs starts throwing "p" characters in my document. Key. Highly unacceptable for this Emacs lover! This thing is coming back and I'm sticking with the Adesso ADP-PU21 which I borrowed from work and it works significantly better for me - I've had one crash a week compared to the IOGear which hiccups for 5 minutes. It's interesting to note that your mileage may vary…

Pros
  • Supports wheel mouse
Cons
  • No automatic

Perfect match for KVM switch

This is one of the few USB PS/2 adapters that works with Cybex / Avocent KVM switch without skipping, multiple inputs or power consumption . Keyboard with PS/2 input. The cables were thinner than the older version of the same model from IOgear, but I didn't notice any performance degradation.

Pros
  • Keyboard and mouse can be connected to a laptop computer at the same time
Cons
  • Useless functions

Main problem with computer components

I have an old Microsoft Natural Multimedia keyboard that I like a lot. Unfortunately my new computer doesn't have a PS2 port so I bought one so I can still connect. Big problem: It's slow. I've set the keyboard delay to the lowest possible value, but it still doesn't work with this adapter. Press when holding, pauses, stutters, walks. I need to replace this item as it doesn't allow me to scroll or navigate smoothly and quickly using the keyboard.

Pros
  • USB bus power supply
Cons
  • This makes me angry

Won't work with my laptop dock

I tried replacing the Tripp-lite with this one thinking it was giving me problems. This adapter works on USB ports directly on a laptop, but not on a docking station. It's just a matter of connecting it to a KVM switch so it should work on my dock. The computer detects that "some" USB device is plugged in, but cannot figure out what it is. I called tech support and they didn't know how to fix the problem. This is the only USB device that does this for me (works from the onboard USB port but not

Pros
  • For MAC users: Mac OS 8.6 or higher and an available USB port
Cons
  • Slightly dented

The only adapter that works with IOGear PS2 KVM switches

These are PS2 models only. I ordered several to have my 4 port KVM (green with 4 cables built in). One of them turned out to be defective. The symptom was that the computer reported it as an unknown device. Revain promptly replaced him at her expense and all is well.

Pros
  • Works with any USB compatible system with PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse ports
Cons
  • Not trendy
