Do not buy Rutland products

This item was used to replace the brick in the chimney. FOLLOW the instructions to the tee and this product still failed. Started curing at low temperature (1 Log Duraflame) after being allowed to dry for over 28 hours and it bubbled and the bricks separated. Now I have to make it complete, but this time with real chimney mortar. I didn't follow the advice of others, so don't repeat my mistake. Do not use it to install brick or use Rutland products as they are cheap, counterfeit and unfit for…

Cracked like an eggshell

I built a coal forge from a steel oil drum (new) and used it for the interior. I liked that it was pre-mixed and not too expensive. The consistency is like thick mud and I apply it in a thin layer after wetting the surface (according to the instructions) and lightly sanding. Ideal for end/pre-season maintenance

This product is excellent for [preventive] maintenance. At the end/beginning of the season I do a thorough cleaning and check every inch of the refractory panels. Any dent/crack will be repaired with this method. One method that works well for me is to put as much as you need in a ziplock bag, soak/heat it by squeezing it with your hands, poke a small hole in the corner and then just apply to each area, which needs to be repaired (as icing on the cake).
