Small Wire Compartment

This 50 amp RV outlet is a steal, but there's not enough room in the 6 gauge cord compartment. Be careful when sliding the wires into place to secure the connector plate. The plate screws are very small. Instead, I used two 1/2" pan-head Tex screws for assembly. In my opinion, as an electrician, your best bet is to use a full-body RV plug, such as Eaton's Cutler-Hammer type .

Pros
  • Heavy Duty
Cons
  • Minimal Repairability

Home RV power now happyly

I added this to the RV side of the garage. The whole reason is a more reliable connection where a standard 20 amp extension cord will bend and fall out. I replaced 50 amps (wanted to buy from 30 amps) with a 30 amp outlet - and yes I cheated and only got 20 amps from the switch into the box. Now standard 30 amp to 50 amp dogbones and 50 amp cords power everything in the camper. NO doesn't do everything like air conditioning and microwave at the same time, but one or the other without problems.

  • Hands free operation

Cheap Chinese receiver

I had to go to the local hardware store to buy a better receiver. The one it came with doesn't accept a 6GA cable. It can take something with thinner threads, but the screws get in the way. A very dangerous relationship. The USA made plug has much larger screws that hold the 6 ga cable more securely. The box is fine. A hole punch isn't really a hole punch, you need a step drill bit to make the hole. The box is solid and beautiful after connecting the wires. There isn't enough room at the bottom

Knockouts are not standard.

Seems quite complex, but knockouts aren't coming off the way they should. They have creases, but the metal isn't sharp enough to break. If the metal does not have cuts, and a die is needed to open the hole, then it is better to do without a contour. It's not just for looks! The product looks good in the photos but is not well made. If you're getting paid to do this work, buy something more expensive and quicker to install. If you don't get paid for this job, chances are you don't have the right

GARBAGE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Item delivered on time. However, poor construction and design make it unusable. I'll tell you why: 1. Recesses were not punched, just printed on the surface. I had to drill holes for the threaded connection.2. The outlet is too close to the back of the box. This closeness didn't leave enough room to bend the wires to reveal the back of the socket.3. The cable connectors have been designed with mounting screws located in the center of each cable connector. This made it impossible to insert the…

Nice 50 amp outdoor socket

When I bought a spa a few years ago I opted for a 50 amp 4 pin socket to connect to the mains. Sometimes when you live in a small town you use what you have. It was an internal 4 pin surface mount outlet, weather wasn't an issue as the hot tub is below the deck on the second floor. I recently got a new hot tub and decided to upgrade to an external outlet. When I found this one it seemed perfect. In the original installation, a PVC pipe ran along the wall. This device really isn't designed to…

Heavy Duty and get ready to go!

Very strong and durable case. Does exactly what I need for 50 amps. generator input. And now the bad news. 1) If you're working with a large wire (I used 6/3), you have a job to do. There is little room for manipulation on the back of the box. 2) The front cover does not stay up. This causes installation/connection issues when working alone. 3) The 2 mounting screws holding the front panel are TOO SMALL! (it's in a box with little room for fingers) 4) As others have said, knockouts aren't…

looks good but very bad product!

The 50 amp RV power supply looks very good. However, trying to install it, it becomes clear that the product has serious flaws. The first thing to note is that the socket is mounted upside down (neutral is on top of the plate) to be used with an RV plug as the large power cord will not fit in the box. The input / output of the cable is at the bottom of the box. Break-out plugs are not slotted and must be drilled out! The green ground wire is too short and is factory attached to the ground…

It works well but is difficult to install.

It is very difficult to install a thick 3/4 inch cable in a box with large #6-4 wire. . You can't score it like a standard. Be prepared to purchase additional cutting tools. 2. It is very difficult to install the #6 large cable. I had to pull the cord out (the cord is still in the hole). Connect the cable to the clamp and then slowly pull the cable out of the box through the bottom hole. 3. If your cable comes with a #6 ground wire, it will not fit into the box's ground lug. You will need to…
