Failed in four years

I purchased this Seagate Desktop Hard Drive 3TB SATA 6Gbps 64MB Cache 3.5" Internal Idle Drive (ST3000DM001) in 2014 and installed it in my mid 2010 iMac Installed. . It was working fine until I noticed in 2018 that the iMac wasn't booting up properly and programs were sluggish. I thought that the problem lies in the outdated hardware in which the new software does not work properly. But in the end it stopped loading. Tried various diagnostic programs to no avail. I bought a replacement iMac…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Poor

This Seagate 3TB SATA hard drive is an infamous defective option that has flooded the market and really hurt Seagate as the worst hard drive manufacturer. My journey lasted 5 years until my sudden death. No warnings, just unresponsive. They had the highest error rate, e.g. B. 6X more than the competition and other Seagate drives (temporarily). Seagate has gotten better, but the cliche/word on the street still exists. People tend to recommend Hitachi (now owned by WD), Samsung, Rocket, then WD…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • No insurance

Very strong rumble and crunch

I bought this right at the beginning of December 2016. Pretty much exactly 12 months later the drive starts to do that intermittent BUZZZZZZZZ. In the past few months, he's started to earn real money. crispy sound. Noise and crunch combined? Sounds like an old 3.5" drive from the past. It passes SMART tests well, but that's not normal behavior and I'm afraid it's about to give up at any moment. Seagate warranty. New disc just arrived. It doesn't seem to hum or crackle, so it's an improvement…

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Weak set

An infinitely disappointing SHORT LIFE.

It's already broken and twice as young as my other 3 HDDs! My Seagate ONLY runs 1500 days and has ONLY 2300 start-stops. He's already on life support, at 42% health and only 68 days left! And it costs more than any other CD I've bought. For comparison: My Hitachi 2 TB lasted 3000 days. Start-Stop at 18000. He has 98% health. Bought in 2010! This is not a typo. My other two HDs are the same story. I can't believe the warranty has expired.

Pros
  • Not only useful for the intended purpose
Cons
  • Hard to say

know you get

I have bought about 40 of these drives for different setups in the last 6-8 years. these are decent wheels. work fine, fairly fast for spinning disks. However, they are not the most stable. In my last order for 4 disks to fill a raid array, 1 was fully DOA. Discs purchased in the last 2 years. about 80% of them are still working. it's a cheap drive. If you get a good one, it should be good for a few years. if not, he either dies upon arrival or within a year. UPDATE: So the last one I installed

Pros
  • 2 year warranty; 64Mb cache
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Try and try again for internal hard drives

This is my second order of this product and I only order when needed. I can't talk about all the features of this drive or compare the performance. I'm not a hard drive expert. However, I use my computer more than 8 hours a day, this is my business and I need reliable hard drives in my machines. I had 4 Seagate drives in total and this is my second 3TB Seagate ST3000DM001 drive. All 4 drives failed. I won't talk about the durability of other drives, but this one failed for 3 years. I bought it…

  • Great for everyday desktop and computer storage

Does not take long!

So I ordered this product for PC in 2013 and have been using it for about a year now with no problems. A year ago I was getting blue screens and freezing when my "E" drive disappeared after a reboot. So after testing my (working) RAM and checking all the drivers and software related to these issues, I have diagnosed this on my hard drive. I have a Crucial SSD that has really important stuff in it, so that wasn't it and everything was pointing to my HDD. Now, after less than 3 years of use, my…
