for the guy who thinks it's not a real star square because it will rust after being exposed to water. You obviously don't know that cast iron rusts just like steel. This is for those who rely on their tools to get the job done. I just bought this square because Swanson and all the other $15 squares don't work as a starlet. The reason other squares don't rust is because they're made of aluminum. therefore they are not exactly square. Cast iron sprocket head. The blade will not rust as it is made

Pros
  • BLADE DETAILS: Hardened steel blade is machined and measures 12 inches long.

High quality, accurate, beautiful

If you only work with double stock and plywood, buy a Speed Square at your local hardware store. If you are looking to create quality furniture or heirlooms then you have come to the right place. If all you ever got your hands on were the combination squares you can find on the counter at your local hardware store, then you'll be delighted to be able to wrap your fingers around Starrett. The first thing you'll notice is the weight, not only is the cast iron head heavier than cheap aluminum or…

Pros
  • GRADE: Has 4R graduations with quick reading of 1/8", 1/16", 1/32" and 1/64".

This square is spot on and I can trust it to be accurate at both 45 and 90 degree checks and marks. I'm glad I chose the Star model. The costs more but is worth it in the long run.The edges of the square I received were perfectly flat and all degree measurements were checked on multiple precision protractors. It feels…
