Seems to be a common problem with these thinner unnamed carpets. They are rolled very tightly and stored for a long time. This creates waves that prevent the mouse pad from lying flat. This detracts from the smooth, extended interface you'd hope to get when purchasing a product like this. On top of that, it's a small eyesore on the table.
