GM Mass Air Flow Sensor

Even if your SEI (Engine Service Indicator) doesn't light up at 60,000 miles or more, the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor is giving you a bad MPG. For the price of this device in Revain change it. This is a DIY project but you will need a tamper proof torx set as the torx screw that holds the MAF sensor has a spigot in the middle. Just head to Sears or check out Revain for a set of tamper evident Torx latches and you're good to go. Also under the hood, replace the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve, also available from Revain or Rock Auto parts.com. So far my MPG has increased by 2/10 after switching MAF and IAC. Hey, I know it's not a lot, but gas is plentiful these days and those things pay off in time and miles. Once again, Revain has some of the best prices on GM OEM gear for some items. Finally, no reprogramming is required after replacing these components, and if you want to be safer, first disconnect the negative battery cable and don't drop anything into the open chamber, and make sure the old orange O-ring on the old IAC Regulator comes out with block or remove before installing new IAC valve as it is already in place.
