Much better than the auto parts store

3M manufactures products of the highest quality. You pay a little more and it's harder to find, but you get a professional product. I used this as a final step in restoring some headlights and it works great. If I were a bit more picky I could get an Ultrafine #3 product but not sure if that affects my headlights that much. It's hard to tell if the plastic has internal microcracks from years of exposure to heat and cold or something else. It's only when my xenon headlights shine through the…

Great Product Car Care

There are many cheaper products out there, in this case you get what you pay for. This product is excellent for removing whirlpool, water pot and oxidation of paint. It's extremely easy to use and unlike other products I've used, the inevitable splatters come off very easily. I was recently gifted a black 2012 Dodge Charger that had four years of covered car wash swirls and oxidation. I used the Perfect-it with a Dewalt 1400rpm buffer and a thin (blue) TCP Global spacer. I've painted the…

Excellent system! Best in Grooming

Giving one of my black cars a professional shine has always been a challenge. I have tried many commercially available products with varying degrees of success. So I finally broke down and bought the 3M Perfect-It 3 Step System along with their polishing caps. It's expensive compared to ready-made stuff, but - wow! - what a result! I first watched the product video on You-Tube and then started working on the car following the instructions on the product bottles. The finish on the car (a 1993…

  • Can't remember, but there was something

Goes well with 3M pleated waffle pads. This cuts very slowly, leaving little to no whorls to remove. It dries aggressively and is difficult to remove once dry. A simple solution is to wipe the dried product with a damp microfiber cloth. This is a polish, not wax, glaze etc, so full removal is expected. The color of the product corresponds to the color of the pad used. Black pad/light gray lacquer. When you're done with that, use an ultra-fine polish for an ultra-high shine. This is a light blue

Excellent finish, pulls 1200 and up with no problem

This will likely pull out 800 degree scratches with an extra pass or 2. I found 1500 no problem. I've also found that for touch-ups or maintenance, 900-1200 rpm is fine, very controllable and forgiving. For more difficult situations you need 1200-2000 rpm as he recommends and it will pull everything out very well. The vortex signs are GONE! in just 2 passes, very easy. You can stop at this step and just grow or stand alone. Worth every penny and it's the BEST I've ever used. I did some side by…
