🔩 Density Metal Piece by Ajax Scientific Review

Item in good condition. They are not marks to identify metal, so be prepared to identify blocks. I guess the case is a piece of plastic that broke in transit, but it's really cheaply made. So overall I would spend the extra money on a case and better identification of the blocks.

Dimensions are inaccurate. Claimed as 20mm but the size is 19mm. In addition, samples of zinc, iron, and lead were quite erroneous in calculating density. I know pure substances are rare, but these alloys were too far away for my students to reliably calculate the correct density. We measured volume by displacement and l.ch. Digital scales and tripod scales for weight measurement. I looked, looked and looked again. Aggravating.

I was trying to demonstrate an experiment before doing it with my class. It turns out 20 mm, but the density is wrong. I weighed them on an accurate scale, but only copper and aluminum seem to match actual density. Not to mention that it doesn't contain any information about which element is which cube. Good luck finding out. I ended up labeling one of these as tin because one of the calculated densities was closer to that of tin than any other mentioned in the product description.
