Description of Etekcity Infrared Thermometer 1080, Non-Contact Temperature Gun for Cooking & Home Repairs, Digital Laser IR Temp Gauge, Surface Measuring, -58 to 1022℉, -50 to 550℃, Yellow

NOT FOR HUMAN: The thermometer can't measure the internal temperature of an object; Temperature readings from this devices are inanimate objects, the measured temperature for humans or animals will not be correct; Class 2 laser, optical power 0.5-0.9Mw. BETTER ACCURACY: 12:1 D:S, lasergrip 1080 can accurately measure targets at greater distances compared to most other IR thermometers; For best accuracy, the distance between the thermometer and object of measurement should approximately be 14.17 in(36cm). TARGET QUICKER: Measure surface temperature ranging from -58°F to 1022°F/-50°C to 550°C, you can choose the unit from °F/°C; Response time: ≤500Ms; A built in laser gives you the precision to hone in on the exact space you want to measure. ADDED FUNCTIONS: The LCD screen is backlit, also has an auto-off function to extend the battery life, and features a low battery indicator so you never accidentally run out of juice (battery included). VERSATILE DESIGN: Infrared technology makes it to measure the surface temperature of various objects especially temperatures above boiling points and below freezing points; Use it for cooking, ovens; A/C, refrigerators; or soapmaking cats toy etc.

Died 1 month after the warranty expired!

Good while it lasted. In the beginning I used almost everything. Later only occasionally. Until the battery indicator told me the battery needed to be replaced. Today I went to change the battery and nothing, I tried several batteries and nothing, the old battery is gone. I returned to Revain and was relieved to learn that they have a 2 year guarantee! Until I find out I'm a month out of warranty! I've used it enough that the original battery lasted almost 2 years. I think I used it very…

Stops working within 24 hours

I bought this product to measure the temperature of a stove. Box opened, battery tab pulled out, battery inserted. No instruction required, operation is basically self-explanatory.1. Ice cream measured at 25°F.2. Measured gas burner plate at 350+°F.3. The skin was measured at 98 degrees Fahrenheit. The next day I tried to turn it on but the power kept cutting out. Checked battery, reinserted battery. I noticed that the screen says 'CAL', assuming this means the device is calibrating itself…

Season of use and thermometer not working

I never write a review let alone an unfavorable one. But I was forced to write this as this item gets consistently good reviews (which is why we bought it in late November 2017). We bought this product to test the temperature of our wood stove. He always groomed, didn't let himself fall, didn't let him get warm, last spring, at the end of the heating season, he began to behave strangely. I thought it was a low battery, took the battery out for a season and kept it in the original box. Fast…

The accuracy is questionable.

Accuracy not certain. I bought this to test the surface temperature of a pizza stone. The temperature of the stone and the temperature of the hood of your grill/oven can vary, so it is recommended that you test it with one of these. So I made a glass of ice water in my Yeti mug. After a few minutes sitting it showed 32.9F. Then I check again a few minutes later and it's sporadic, 37.2F, 34.7F. I checked it from 12 inches away, which is a Spot should measure about 1 inch in diameter according to

Accuracy Verified in tests, measurements and inspections

Overall this is an excellent product. Comfortable grip, the screen is backlit and the price can't be beat. An easy way to check the accuracy of this thermometer is to take the temperature of a pot of boiling water. This will give you a temperature of approximately 212 F. Equilibrium boiling water (or all liquids at the same temperature) will maintain 212 F no matter how quickly the water evaporates. This is a rough estimate because the boiling point of water varies with salinity and altitude…

The accuracy is questionable.

Not sure about accuracy. I bought this to test the surface temperature of a pizza stone. An extra laser point is worth a few extra bucks!

This thermometer really works and the dual laser is worth the extra money you pay for it. With two lasers you can not only align the thermometer but also measure the distance/spot size (imagine a circle between two laser spots) so you know exactly what area you are averaging. (The documentation and handy label on the device recommend a distance of 14 inches for best results). I compared the readings with other thermometers and found that this one is very accurate. At less than $20, it seems…
