The key in the photo looked cheap and plastic, but it's actually metal. I had an oil filter that was overtightened during installation and damaged when trying to remove it. With this tool I was able to easily remove the old filter.

My filter might have been a little tight but the 3/8" drive piece IMMEDIATELY snapped off rendering the tool unusable while my bike was on a lift with no oil. I had to mid Looking elsewhere at work. Sent back. Only gave 1 star because zero wasn't offered.

The oil filter wrench works but it's made of soft metal. Therefore, DO NOT use the oscillating extension with this tool. The part of the tool where the extension is inserted is very thin and the oscillating extension rotates in it causing the extension to get stuck. Let's see how it works next time I use it with a regular extension.

After reading the reviews and knowing my filter was "too tight" I figured this wrench would slip off. However, after reading more reviews, I saw that someone had drilled holes in this wrench and used self-tapping screws to attach the oil filter. It worked like a charm. Now that I'm in the business of changing my oil, I don't expect to need screws.

Literally on the second filter I used this wrench and one of the two miserable welds securing the 3/8 washer to the filter broke off. I've read that in other reviews too. Either get married or you have to cook. not decided yet. But if you don't have a welder to add what's missing, then don't bother with this filter key.

What an absolute waste of my hard earned dollars. I'm the one who installed my last filter so I know it wasn't over tightened. 1/2 turn after hand tightening. I've been changing my own oil for over 30 years. This thing just slips off the filter and doesn't generate enough torque to remove anything. I have 4 days past my return window so I'm out of the loop. I recommend skipping this.

Don't buy this cheap fake. You will end up grinding the notch on your filter. If this happens (from experience), don't panic. Go to your local auto dealer or other auto parts store and buy the cheap $5 oil filter strap wrench. It's small enough to fit in the area around the oil filter. Once removed, slide the K/N filter onto the end of the filter using a 5:8 nut. That way you never have to deal with it again.

broke after 2 uses. What a waste. The cup only has 2 small spot welds on the center piece where you attach a 3/8 ratchet. The welds broke when the filter was removed. I had to destroy the filter to remove it so I could finish the oil and filter change on my bike. No, I'm not new to tools. I used to have my own motorcycle workshop but I lost some tools when moving so I bought these as spares. I got so angry I threw both pieces in the trash.
