Requires amazing skill

Most people roll their eyes when you interrupt an overflow. "It's just coffee," the uninitiated will say. I was surprised at how many professional baristas on YouTube recommend the plastic version of the V60 over other versions. It's more affordable, harder to break, and better at retaining heat indoors. Yes, plastic stains a lot more easily than glass or ceramic, even if you clean it right away, and that's probably the worst thing you can say. However, I would advise anyone watching this who…

Make sure you buy Hario filters. its worth it.

I love strong flavored coffee with rich butter. However, I don't like burnt coffee. All I do is heat water in a kettle, measure out a spoonful of ground coffee and pour it into the drip filter. Then slowly pour in in a circular motion and soak the ground coffee. After a few tries I found what I like. I know the exact measure per cup, I know what pour rate I need, and I prefer not to soak the coffee grounds as instructed. A few things. (1) I thought transparent would be good to see how much…

Wonderfully cheap, wonderfully good coffee. Experiment more often!

I switched from Chemex to the Hario V60 after many baristas recommended it as the 'leader' in pourover. Don't let the modest 3-minute brewing time stop you - Hario makes surprisingly loud-tasting cups. Especially African varieties (Ethiopian, Kenyan, Burundian) are characterized by their smooth, syrupy, light body and the flavor notes are very clear even if you are new to craft coffee. Also, even as a beginner, I sometimes get these amazing flavors out of my coffee. What you need to know about…

Simple and effective

I would recommend pairing this with a kettle if you don't already have one. I found one on sale at Target for $12, and these two together are the best $20 coffee maker you can buy. (I still use this setup many days when I don't want to mess with the $800 espresso machine my husband bought us for Christmas.) You can watch many videos on how to properly brew coffee. You should probably check out one or two. I don't think it's necessary to focus on all the details. The most important thing is to…

Clear up some misunderstandings

This brewer is amazing, one of two industry standards. There are a lot of misconceptions about "how coffee is brewed" in reviews of this brewery and I'd like to help clear that up if I can. This brewery doesn't brew coffee for you, they brew it for you! The water about it determines how good the coffee comes out the other end, but this coffee maker has differences from other coffee makers that allow you to brew coffee differently, let me point out a few of them. The V60 in particular has a big…
