Constantly cools my muscle car's 4L80E engine

I have a 1980 Pontiac Grand Prix. I removed the stock V6 and replaced it with a 454 big block V8 with a 4L80E gearbox. When I replaced the engine I also had to upgrade the radiator (no wonder); The new one has an internal transmission oil cooler, but I chose not to use that. Instead, I bought this Hayden liquid cooler (it was the biggest I could find at 11" x 11") and installed it a few inches in front of the A/C condenser (I thought it would block airflow through that one support cooler). . I…

Great cooler. Installation takes a little time, but it's worth it!

Better than stock cooler. It's big, so it's difficult to install on 2005 gmc yukons. I've taken suggestions from other reviewers to use 2" flat aluminum (available at your local hardware store 4ft) to make cross bars to attach the cooler to. I attached the clamps to the existing frame with sheet metal screws (I drilled a small pilot hole and the self drilling ends of the screws did the rest. Very strong connection to the existing frame. Then bolted the radiator to the straps (before) (drilled…

updated with 678 best parts

The 679 upgrade was pretty easy, go back to lower prices for a flatter aluminum shaft. This time I used a slightly wider/thicker version as the weight was a bit more. bent/drilled/turned all together on MDX. 7 inch fan fits perfectly, no overlap. I haven't been able to recreate the same hills with this big cooler yet, but temperatures seem to be better in the city. The update is coming in the fall, when it's time to abuse the MDX transceiver while towing a trailer. If you have a 2001-2006 MDX…

MUST READ! READ BEFORE ORDERING!

I have a 2007 Suburban LTZ 5.3L with 130,000 miles. I recently purchased a 4900lb travel trailer. I have 4 boys and my wife and unless I'm towing an RV my gear temp would hit around 80F or higher 185F to 195C in a day when the family is running around town. But I usually stayed about 175° back and forth to work, which is an 11-minute drive. Having said all that, I ordered this transmission cooler kit and ordered an inline kit. I watched a few videos and got started. On my car, the entire front…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Very expensive

With the 679 you get significant cooling.

Looking at this cooler, you're probably worried about your transmission overheating. This cooler cools it down significantly. Here is my data. I have a 2003 Chevy Suburban 2500 with just over 100,000 miles that I recently bought. I use it around town and tow a 4500# trailer. I was recently hauling in the northwestern Connecticut hills and the truck's transmission temp gauge read 200 degrees, the highest I've seen. It is usually around 140 when the temperature is below 70 and gradually increases
