That's exactly what I wanted.

I used this to repair a broken tailgate on my Ford Escape. Installation wasn't as easy as I expected; but once we figured it out, everything works great. And it saved me a lot of money compared to going to the store to have it fixed.

Pros
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Negative gift

What a money saver: Motors

My 2011 Escape tailgate won't close anymore. They either offered a replacement for 115.00 (for a part only) or give it to a landfill. Installation took about 15 minutes from start to finish. Works great. Like the day I bought it. No discharging of the car battery. There are no problems with any sensors. Definitely recommend this option.

We saved money! in Motors

This is exactly what we needed to repair a 2010 Ford Escape tailgate latch. With minimal experience with cars, we were able to fix it ourselves in less than half an hour. There are many videos on YouTube that show exactly how to do this. Now it's working again and we saved a few hundred bucks by doing it ourselves instead of going to a mechanic.

Works perfectly! for motors

Installation is top notch and easy to level due to the ingenious design with very little backlash. Also, the drive seems MUCH more powerful than the original and a lot louder, which I think is a plus. The original lock on the Escape/Mariner/Tribute often fails because the rubber seal on the rear window opening glass is not as tight. as it should, water leaks and eventually leads to drive failure. This part installs in minutes using Original Equipment hardware.

  • Hands free operation

  • Not sure

Works but BEWARE of engines

This was exactly what I needed. But let me warn you, these dam screws are BE CAREFUL! they will undress! I tried mine on and said use T25 yes T25 doesn't peel them well. I had a very difficult time, I had to place the line with the dremal tool and twist the flat head and it WORKS! I WILL NOT USE THE SAME SCREWS FOR YOU ANYMORE. I got myself some screws that I know I can open in the size I have where M6x1.0 16mm or M6x1.0 12mm will work from the autozone as well. Once I received them and…

Find a good video on removing the door panel and opening the door.

First of all the installation is very easy if you remove the trim from the tailgate. There's nothing wrong with removing the panel once you've seen how to do it. Find a video on YouTube. It will also help you open the door. Fasteners fall out easily. I used a carpenter's crowbar to get close to them. You then open the door to remove the last few screws on the underside to completely remove the panel. Then replace the latch. Been using it for a few weeks now, works great! Much cheaper than at…

Replaced my broken Ford Escape 2010 lock easily!

This latch fitted my 2010 Ford Escape perfectly and was easy to install after watching a few YouTube videos on how to do it. I had to buy a T27 bit for my socket wrench to turn 3 screws, but it cost less than $3 at the hardware store. I don't know how much money this saved me. At first I was a bit hesitant to do it myself because I'm a complete novice at this kind of stuff, but it wasn't difficult at all and was done in about 20 minutes. The hardest part for me was finding a T27 bit at a local…

Just what I needed for my 2012 Ford Escape

My 2012 Ford Escape had a power train failure (they say!) and the tailgate wouldn't open. We decided to buy it and try to fix it ourselves. My husband and I quickly replaced this part. The only issues we had were the bolts on the original drivetrain. We undressed 1 and tried to undress it. I ended up having to go to the store for a replacement. So my only complaint would be that I wish it had come with additional hardware. But that issue aside, it would have taken us less than 20 minutes to…

fits perfect, works as advertised, just like OEM at 1/5 the price

After my 2010 Ford Escape had the tailgate latch actuator fail for the third time in a few months, this time it happened during the tailgate. With a trunk full of coolers, a table and a grill, I decided it was time to replace the part. (I heard the switch turn on and checked the connections, so I knew the fault wasn't electrical and that part was the likely problem). I wish I had done that sooner. A quick search for a replacement part led me to regular auto parts suppliers, but they only sold…
