Won't break and looks good

This fastener solves the problem of broken strings. I had to change the rope every few weeks because we used the gate more often. I tried the chain. It worked better than the rope but changed position where it was attached to the outside of the gate. As a result, it was too short and the gate could not be locked. Guests and workers left it unlocked and our dogs kept running away. It solves the problem in style without spending a lot of money. It was pretty easy to install. My only problems were

Works great on wooden fencing: needs occasional adjustment

We live next to our grandchildren who come and go all the time. My husband finally snapped the latch on our new wooden gates. I really like this design and functionality. It has a handle that they can use on their side and our side has a snap mechanism. Note that sometimes you need to adjust the gate yourself. After repeated use of the wooden gate and exposure to the elements, the fence can give a little, causing the latch to no longer align properly - you just have to level the old fence and…

Working but design flaw

I just installed this product. Took me about 30 minutes. While it works, there are a few design flaws to be aware of. 1. The screw holding the lever to the latch was not long enough or wide enough to work and I had to use a replacement with extra washers. The hole in my arm was too wide and the washer that came with it had simply pulled through. 2: There is no way to "push" the lever back down to click. If your latch mechanism needs a little help closing your gate, this product will not work…

STAY AWAY: Broke 3 weeks after installation - rarely used

This gate has not been used very much (only used once every 1-2 weeks) so little traffic. From the outside, however, my hidden gate looked great. After my garden people opened the gate a second time, the handle fell loose in her hand. Turns out there's a metal tip inside that's crimped onto the cable, and it just came loose. Maybe I can re-crimp with one of my electrical spades. Another bad thing about this is that the screw holding the cable in the locking tab moves too much even after…

Worth knowing about the hardware

Although the setup for this one looks great and is definitely a lot better than the other type, I tried where the spring was on the previous one, it's nice that that's tucked into the post They drill it so the spring doesn't get tangled. However, the stopper at the end of the cable and the instructions for it are very poor. The stop you are using has a small piece that the cable goes through that is barely enough for the cable. So if you accidentally scratch the cable's plastic cover, good luck
