Most people who are unhappy with this item use it differently than the seller intended. It is not designed for notebook paper. This way the colors on the notebook paper won't be as metallic.

Very good! Very flexible brush handle. Can be used for brush lettering/calligraphy. Looks great on black or white paper. Not the biggest fan of the white pencil, it looks very flat and not metallic.

These pens are cute. However, I thought I would buy calligraphy pens. It's more like "crayons". The tips are soft, no need to press hard. They might work for other types of calligraphy, but I need hard nibs. I gave it to someone who likes to paint.

Works very well, the nib is smooth and glides easily over the paper. Beautiful colors. The only problem is that I love tracing my drawings with black marker and you can actually see this ink over the black marker (they don't cover it). Consensus: Good brush pens, but not the best

Originally rated 4 stars but downgraded to 1 because the red is too dark and the black is too reflective to the point I don't even want it again lol I mean I think it could possibly create an interesting effect but the pink cap bringing out an almost dark brown color is way too intense. I was a bit disappointed when I first used it because it looked very watery and felt like it was soaking right into the paper (especially on black paper). But after a few uses it started showing colors and flickering. Then, when the ink dries, the color appears on the paper; Before that, it looks like watermark. Also, you may have to tilt the pen a lot to get the shimmer as it sometimes gets stuck at the bottom of the tip. It can be a brush calligraphy practice set.

I bought this set of pens to write by hand. These pens have very soft tips. It takes very little pressure to create thick downward movements, while thin upward movements are difficult and require practice. They are very pigmented and color light and opaque on dark paper and the color is the same on white paper, which I really like. As others have noted, white ink takes a while to appear. Just received this and tried it on good quality paper (trying to test on good paper before judging the pen). I had high hopes for a decent brush pen at this price point. Unfortunately there aren't any. Subtle: The colors are not too confusing. The metallic effect is actually there, not shiny. Worry less: I know how to do calligraphy with a brush.
