Genuine Motocraft filter

Used on my last oil change in my Ford F-250 2008 6.4L. Removed identically to the filter that came from a previous dealer replacement. Due to the difference in price, I will continue to change oil for peace of mind and will continue to order this filter.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far

  • Some errors

Check part number before install

Recent feedback from people who have received a counterfeit filter has got me concerned. Luckily I got the right one from the US. It looks like counterfeit filters are made in China and have a part number ending in AB not AA. If you receive one with a part number ending in AB I suggest you send it back.

Yes it's legit for parts

The fact that Revain allows unscrupulous people to sell counterfeit Motorcraft products here is a little unbelievable, but they do it. That's actually the real deal. At least a couple of times I've bought them from this seller. Packaging and quality are as expected. The new Motorcraft branding is also on the packaging rather than the old version which is usually unusable.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Some issues

Motorcraft makes the best aftermarket parts!

When I first bought my 2005 Ford F350 I was advised to always use Motorcraft replacement filters with every oil change when servicing a 6.0 liter diesel engine. I followed this advice from day one and had no problems with my car. The same goes for fuel filters, which are very important in 6.0 or any other application to stay in good order.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Good but not great

USE ONLY OEM FILTERS FOR 6.0L POWERSROKE ENGINE!

I am currently using the second filter from this seller. They were significantly cheaper than my local dealer, they were genuine OEM filters, and both fit my OEM filter housing as they should. The oil can't get past the filter and my 6.0 liter engine runs better thanks to the cleaner oil. If you run a 6.0 liter engine, don't buy aftermarket filters, they won't fit properly, they will let in dirty oil and you'll ruin your engine.

OEM Ford Motorcraft part. This is a part for your truck.

This is a Motorcraft OEM part. Please do not use counterfeits on your diesel truck! It's cheaper than bargain prices and the same part! Easy change; Key 36mm. If you have a bypass I recommend the goosefoot as the socket will not fit the bypass fitting. (Only those who have a bypass filter will understand what I'm talking about. If you don't know what I'm talking about, this tip doesn't apply to you) This is the simplest oil filter I've ever had change! I feel stupid taking my truck to the…

Best price on Amazon. Least expensive to use.

This part costs significantly less than the type that gets you a new cover every time. I put fully synthetic turbo diesel oil in my 2008 Ford F-250, 6.4 liter engine. I change the filter every 5,000 km and again with an oil change every 10,000 km. I know the oil can last up to 15,000 miles but I live in Montana and due to the inclement weather here I change it every 10,000 miles. I also do a lot of short trips. If I went back to California I would change the filter at 10,000 and replace it with

I was told that this is the only filter that can be used.

I was told that this is the only filter that can be used in my 6.0 as other filters with disposable caps are the wrong height. I have the third of them and they worked fine. Change 01/10/2017. I took a chance and ordered a couple from HPDistribution for the low price of $11 each. I chose MFL-2016 which I believe is the Mexican version of FL2016 as the packaging is entirely in Spanish. Although they may be the same, the packaging did not match the photo in the order. The o-ring was loose in the…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Low maintainability

A few bucks cheaper than your local parts store and since the OEM FL-2016 is new o -OEM quality ring seal and fit and functionality. Warning: Some aftermarket filter elements are WRONG length, which will affect filtration and anti-leakage function. So if you are purchasing non-OEM, please check the item dimensions carefully. There are also aftermarket filter elements with their own permanently attached (disposable) caps. The only issue we had was that the Ford dealer used a non-OEM cartridge…
