Plain and simple

I just received this print server. I was a bit hesitant to buy it due to some negative reviews, especially assembly issues. I was pleasantly surprised when all I had to do was make sure my network connections were working properly beforehand. I connected the printer to the print server, turned on the print server, and then inserted the NetGear installation CD into my computer. The NetGear software recognized the print server, so the installation was almost error-free. The only problem I had was

Very annoying little blue box.

First off, let me say this: I really like Netgear products. I also see that other reviewers like this print server, so consider their experience. Ever since I bought this print server, I have had many annoying problems. Printing complex PDFs on my laser printer is a dead end: three or four pages print and then I get an error message. After that, the print server crashes and needs to be restarted (often my computer also needs to be restarted to be able to print again - I think there could be a…

Very good, but there are still a few small problems.

I bought a new Canon i850 and wanted to use a print server with it. I originally bought an expensive Linksys PPSX1v2 print server, but its performance was poor, there was no bi-directional support, and no Linux support. I returned it and bought a Netgear PS110. What a big difference! That's great! Great performance and I can print with my Linux box too! I found two problems. 1) Does not support bi-directional Canon i850 functionality. 2) When I first got the PS110, DHCP was disabled. So nothing

The manual doesn't mention XP. Just like their website.

The manual doesn't mention Windows XP. The website barely mentions this, but with no instructions. I spent an hour trying it myself, then an hour with tech support. It eventually worked, but only because I know about IP addresses, network configuration, etc. I suppose it would be easy to set up if they bothered to provide instructions for Windows XP and it might be easy with older versions of Windows. But XP users should stay away from it. And wonder why NetGear can't give instructions a year…

Suitable for small offices

I bought this print server for my office so I can send print jobs from any of our network workstations to any of our printers without worrying if a particular workstation is powered on ( or if it works ). !). Both machines are running NT4.0. I found the installation fairly easy - just follow the instructions in the brochure. To other computers, the server basically looks like another computer with two shared printers attached. After installation, the installer must be run on each workstation to
