Works well for the price

I use them for grooving 17-4 stainless steel and they work very well. Watch your speed - I broke 2 to find out they want to be fed.

Pros
  • Internal grooving bits
Cons
  • not reliable

Unnecessarily 4 of the 5 bits broke during use

4 of these bits broke about 1/3 inch from the cutting edge. There were no chips either, the material liked to roll over the drill bit. Bit geometry is said to be poor and I wasn't impressed with mostly pretty junk.

Pros
  • Groove Inserts
Cons
  • Large and Bulky

Pretty good for learning

I'm an aspiring machinist and have been using my 9x19 for about 3 months now. I went through a box of these carbide inserts in about 2 months which I think is normal considering what I've learned. I like the 0.079 inch width. Very narrow compared to most other split width tools. It does a great job with aluminum but you just have to feed slowly and make sure it gets plenty of cutting fluid when cutting SS like 304, 316 and 17-4. I immediately ordered more. I think I'll stick with this insert…

Pros
  • Cutting Tools
Cons
  • Unsure
