Excellent quality and works great

I was keen to buy a replacement pump to replace my aging Ascent brand pump that has given me years of service and was starting to not seal the Presta valve stems properly. Unfortunately for my plans, I saw this $6.99 replacement and decided to give it a try even though it's called Park. The Park head looks identical to my Ascent pump head, close enough that I would expect it to be from the same manufacturer. I've used Presta and Schrader valve replacements for a while with no issues and no…

Reconditioned Old PFP-3 Home Mechanic Bike Pump (circa 2003)

After 18 years of using my Park Tool PFP-3 Home Mechanic Bike Pump (purchased in 2003) the pump head has finally worn out (the pin when holding the lever on the The head no longer held the pump due to the wear of the plastic and kept falling out when inflating the tire). I was delighted to find a conversion kit option on Park Tool's website, even though this bike pump model was discontinued a few years ago - a sign of a quality company with quality products that last. This conversion kit has…

Operation is not intuitive or optimal

I had two tire pumps that required new heads. Not being able to tell the quality from the picture I bought three to keep the top two. However, to my pleasant surprise, one of the three heads (SKS) works the way I prefer (by pushing the lever down to lock the head onto the valve stem), but I've been told that the pumps don't come with those heads will. more. So I bought a second SKS and returned this head and another. Their quality turned out to be the same, but the need to depress the head and…

  • Consistent test results

Don't let this pump get you down.

The PFP-3's Presta fitting is so tight (even with the lever not engaged) that you can separate the valve stem from the tube if you're not very careful when removing the pump head. I was told by a very helpful man at the park (they have good customer service) that valve stem diameters vary. I use threaded rods (Conti tubes). I thought smooth wands might be a good option (threaded wands tend to chew through the rubber compression fit on the pump head), but I've been told smooth wands tend to…

Fits my pump snugly

I have an Innovations Top Dog pump and this pump head is *right* for it so used Innovations Park parts. In fact, Revain has another similar pump head, but with a chrome (mini) handle and different seals. The original pump head on my pump has a chrome handle, but that doesn't matter as the black or chrome is just a cosmetic effect. This product is the cheaper version, which is definitely because it comes with a small o-ring instead of more seals, but I don't replace the piston or any other rings

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Fine
