WORKS NICELY for external hard drives

Perfect. I was and am what is said. Plug in and everything works. Easy and backup files. In February my old computer broke and since I didn't back up my files regularly I lost a lot of files. My last backup was in November. I had to spend a lot of time recreating what I could. I've learned my lesson. Now I have a new computer and know that my files are backed up regularly in the background. Initially I thought I wanted one with multiple ports. USB 2.0 is not necessarily ok. I haven't noticed…

Its worth it. Electronics

This is the second one I have bought for my kids. You forget to save, surf the Internet, delete yourself with a virus, and then complain about the loss of documents. This saved them a lot of mental suffering. It's automatic. It works.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Annoys

The best external HD I've ever had.

The best external hard drive I've ever had. I still use it. My new ones are getting slower every year. This discontinued product needs to be revived!

SIMPLY PERFECT - SIMPLE, FAST AND RELIABLE

I have been using my HP SimpleSave 1TB Desktop External Hard Drive for over 3 years now and I am completely satisfied with it. It is easy to install and use. It's very fast and reliable. It's a "Plug & Use" program that's perfect for a computer novice like me. (And let's face it, the vast majority of living/breathing creatures on this planet. The backup app is absolutely effective and has already saved my life twice. My computer crashed, but my HP External HD kept my work safe and sound held…

Recommended by CNET

When I was looking for an external hard drive, my friend recommended I go to cnet.com to see reviews of external hard drives. She is a computer programmer and the website has great reviews and details about the hard drive. It does all the work for you - a real hard drive for dummies or people who are very busy and don't have time to back up their data. Fantastic car!

The best and easiest to use external hard drive!

The best and easiest to use external hard drive! Easy setup and permanent backup. You installed it and forgot! Unfortunately it is no longer available. Mine has been running flawlessly for over 3 years now.

didn't work best in Computers and Accessories

I bought this backup system because I've always bought HP products. I had problems with a new HP computer I brought in so they had to restore it to its original condition. Preferences, before they did, "we" backed up all my files including my contact list, my music, everything. When I tried to restore everything from a basic HP system, the backup found nothing. I called HP support 4 times all the way to top managers but no one could help me. I've lost everything since I worked on computers. I…

Quiet and works well with multiple computers

This drive is exactly what I wanted. It is very quiet and has been reliable so far (only 3 months owned). I regularly back up multiple computers using the built-in SimpleSave software. The software handles this with ease. I've also backed up the systems I work on for others with no problems. I've used it with Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 32bit and Windows 7 64bit with no problems. However, the SimpleSave software does not back up images. I use Macrium Reflect for image backups, which I also…

Okay, but I've stopped using the built-in backup software.

Reliable drive, excellent value for money. The SimpleSave backup program starts automatically when the drive is connected. The software selects files for backup based on file extension only. It is not possible to back up an entire folder unless you know the extension of each file in the folder beforehand. Luckily, there are several ways around this, both of which involve not using the SimpleSave software. The first and easiest way is to just drag and drop the folder. But since I have many…
