Absolute bullshit, don't buy these

Absolute bullshit, don't buy these! Instead of using a hex head (like every other threaded insert on the planet), the screwdriver uses a flat head or a special head installation tool, which I bought for another $10, but still, even with a really big hole drilled in the Wood is drilled, not inserted straight. That's a terrible design. If I could rate it a zero I would.

hard to find, useful

The product corresponds to the description. I used it in a block of wood to make a tripod compatible grip. Length: 0.626" 15.88mm. OD @ thread: 0.497", 15mm. Screw 3/8 and lock nut for installation. I actually used the drill press and turned it off while clamping the screw in the chuck, to keep up the effort during installation.Only four stars because the finishes of all five have many dents and imperfections which appear to have been caused by being five packed together.

  • Best in its niche

Absolutely terrible. Made to give them a chance

I've used them a few times and probably 2 or 3 times it's been smooth. 90% of the time I just had to drill a 1/2" hole and glue them in because either the pull was terrible or my piece started splitting. Then why bother with an insert when an epoxy nut will do the same for literally a fraction of the price. They sell proprietary 'setup kits', but according to other reviews, the special attachment (odd size that very few people have on hand) doesn't even work 100% of the time in terms of…

Difficult to install

I bought these to assemble furniture that I wanted to take apart when not in use. The plans I used called for them to be inserted into an end grain cherry and the plans indicated that since it is end grain the inserts do not have the same holding power and therefore need to be installed with epoxy . Because of this, the inserts must be hammered in to thread, then removed and reinserted with epoxy. It is almost impossible to install them with a large screwdriver, so you need to use an additional

Neat product. No real problems.

Ordered for 1/4-20 Furniture Smoother. As others have suggested, I drilled an oversized 1/32" hole (in end grain ash). I lubricated the holes with a diluted wax product (but any lube will do). I used the lock nut method on the tool, which I like was able to tap a nail on the end of the tool to seat the bit just enough and then just apply gentle pressure as I screwed the bit into the hole. I ended up countersinking the bit a bit and when I took the tool out came out fine. Although I had trouble…

Precise carvings, beautifully made.

I ordered these ear tips for my Stratocaster guitar. Typically, these guitars have necks that are attached to the body with long screws. In my case I built the inserts into the case so I could use the mounting screws, also stainless steel. The inserts fit perfectly (I used my router to find and drill the holes and I used a set of bits for these inserts, also on my mill to install them) and worked very well. Note, however, that when using stainless steel screws with these inserts, be sure to…

If you have solid wood, why do you need an insert?

I didn't have much experience or knowledge of Threaded Inserts but I did do some woodwork. I tried building them into the bottom of a walnut table that had a "bar table" frame attached. They didn't work as expected in my test patterns, so I never used them for the last part. I did a lot of research on threaded inserts after they didn't work properly. Let me share the research, I hope it can help you: They are sold for "hardwood". Drill Size: They recommend a drill size of 25/64 on the package…

Transform a bolt-on guitar neck (e.g. a Fender) into a bolt-on guitar neck.

I used these anchors to convert my new Squier Stratocaster into a travel guitar. I replaced the four screws used to attach the neck with stainless steel anchors and mounting screws. (Yes, I called them screws in the title, but that's just for search engines. They're actually mounting screws, not bolts, although I'm not sure if there's actually a difference.) There's a lot of discussion on this topic. online, so I'll try to be brief. The most important step is experimenting with installing…

Pro Guitar Tech Babblings

Placing 8-32 stainless steel inlays in the heel of each bolt-on neck creates the best neck joint you could ask for. This is a fairly simple process that offers excellent tonal transfer between the neck and body of an electric guitar. This sound quality really stands out for most gamers. It also makes it easy to remove and reinstall the neck, but you already know that from previous reviews. They don't tell you that. First, don't think for a minute that inserting 10-24 is better.
