Great remote for the price but getting real ones is a problem.

I finally got the remote control after 3 tries to get the original working better and I don't have to point the device directly at the sensor. To get it working, just go to the camera menu and select remote options. If you hold down the button, it focuses and then clicks. Nikon has different modes that give you delayed capture or capture right after the press, mirror lockup for slow shutter modes in the camera menu options. The best part is that the IR doesn't have to be in line, it uses reflection technology that works with the remote in most directions. I mainly want to shoot self-portraits and landscapes as it does the job required with no issues. Make sure you have the correct focus mode when taking portraits or group shots, which is crucial for sharp focus. I've added some pictures comparing genuine products on the right and cheap fakes on the left. So do yourself a favor and get the real thing from authorized Nikon dealers. Revain is also one of those not made by Revain. As you can see from the pictures, the first and second remote controls are cheap fakes. Here are the differences: 1) Remotes 1 and 2 look like cheap plastic and unfinished edges. Nothing goes up2) The remote controls 1, 2 have a greenish logo on the front and a button. The real ones are grayish white 3) Look at the holes near the buttons on the fake ones 4) Look at the brand of the battery on a cheap Chinese 1.2 battery.
