Review on BaoFeng GT-3WP Dual Band Waterproof Walkie Talkie, VHF/UHF 136-174/400-520MHz, with Programming Cable - 2 Pack by Bradley Wacks

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great radio - another programming cable!

I bought 4 of these radios elsewhere after a bad experience with Sanatop (they sent my order to the wrong address and it took forever to get replaced). This is my first radio, so this review is non-technical. Instead, I'll comment on some of the more obvious features for now and update my review as I continue to use the product. The first thing you need to know about this radio is that it uses a different programming cable than the one widely used by Baofeng. Programming Cable for BAOFENG UV-5R/5RA/5R Plus/5RE, UV3R Plus, BF-888S. Again, 2 pin programming cables will NOT work with this radio. As another reviewer mentioned, currently the only way to get a programming cable for the GT-3WP model is to buy it with the radio. I've looked everywhere for this cable after buying the wrong cable and couldn't find it. The cable may be available in the near future as this radio was only recently released. The build quality of the radio is excellent and although I have not tested the manufacturer's water resistance claims I am satisfied with the build quality of the radio. The radio has a dedicated FM radio button (red) and an LED flashlight on top. There are three buttons on the side: a PTT button and two buttons that allow you to switch between FM radio, walkie-talkie and flashlight (two modes: steady and flashing). I decided to bypass the manual and was able to set the frequency very easily after a quick search online. The radio is loud and the sound quality is excellent. If you (like me) do not know what you are doing at first and restart the radio, the voice language switches to Chinese. Don't panic, this can be changed by pressing MENU, then typing 14, then selecting MENU and ENG using the up and down keys. Finally, press MENU again to save. In the coming weeks I will be reviewing the waterproofing, battery life and range requirements of this radio and updating my rating.
