Effective but not perfect

Works well with my 10 and 20 gallon aquariums. I originally bought a sponge inlet filter for my 35 gallon tank. This filter clogs after 1-2 days and severely restricts water flow. Foam filters are currently installed on HOB filters (Marineland and TopFin brands). They last for several weeks without having to be cleaned. I clean mine every week during a water change, but can skip a few weeks. Separately, it's worth noting that they saved several fry from being sucked into the water intake. This alone made these sponges worthy of a good review.
