Review on GRADO Prestige Blue3 Cartridge Stylus by Balthazar Cooper

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The music sounds better than you remember!

Music lovers know how a song can take you back through time and space, back to time and feelings. This Grado is ready to do it for you. And that old song sounds BETTER than you remember! I bought a Grado Black P mount. DO NOT rate this cartridge right out of the box. It takes about 20-30 hours of gameplay to relax. The bass still sounds weak. The mids can be a bit ahead. But wait, because as soon as he opens up, he *really* sings. Dynamic, punchy bass with a subtle hint of bloom that brings real presence to the music. The mids on these cheaper Grado cars are amazing - vocals, brass, snare, guitars - all very clean, fast and harmoniously beautiful. Maximum without stress! Sibilans - fully tamed. No sharpness and not "unrolled" at all. Just a smooth extension - you'll love hearing cymbals, hi-hats and triangles. Big, wide soundstage. It might not be the best image quality, but my system isn't built on it anyway. Some will say that these entry-level Grados are "luxury" - and that's not a bad description. It's warm and smooth, with no discoloration or caking, and seems intent on presenting your music in the best possible light, but never straying into euphony. Never "clinical" and not"cold", but also does not hide the details. Conclusion: It sounds musical! It conveys emotions gives you great presence and harmonically rich and detailed mids, fun, punchy bass and smooth, beautiful highs that make you want to put on another record, then another, then another. and, well, you get the picture. Also, the Grado Black can be upgraded to any of the best Grado stylus pens if you want a little more detail. Can you do better than Grado Black? Of course, if presenting a cartridge means more to you than just enjoying great music. For us music lovers, you will find it difficult to listen to Grado Black and find it unsatisfying. Still on vinyl? Grab a cheap Japanese turntable, hook up a P-Mount Grado and fall in love with the music all over again - it sounds better, than you remember them. You will have a hard time listening to Grado Black and find it unsatisfying. Still on vinyl?
