Review on Memorex 4X DVD Pack Spindle by Ryan Bennett

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Assorted Memorex DVD+RW discs

I have bought several hundred Memorex DVD+RW discs over the last few years and although I have had stands from time to time most discs have worked reasonably well on Samsung DVD recorders (two different models) that I have used. My recent order for two 25 disc spindles resulted in me receiving two Memorex DVD+RW spindles with a different Memorex label to that used on the previously received spindles (the label on the spindle was a different design as well like the printed pattern on each disc). The wheels looked and felt different. I tried formatting 10 of these drives on both DVD burners and neither worked with DVDs. The DVDs appear to be from a completely different manufacturer than the previously released Memorex branded discs. What can I say, except that the buyer should beware. You can assume a certain brand quality and then it's suddenly gone. This update of my comments is dated 01/10/2011. I noticed that Revain.com's current product description for these discs has changed to say the discs are for "newer DVD+R/+RW drives". Before you buy these drives, make sure you have a newer drive (whatever that means). written in 2005) refer to a completely different DVD+RW than the currently sold DVD+RW. My review states that the DVD quality changed sometime in mid-2009. If you read reviews after mine, you'll find that there are a number of specific negative reviews that are often followed by good reviews that say something like "I bought these DVDs and they're great." Writing good things about products If If you have an old drive, I suggest buying these DVDs with caution - or not buying them at all.
