The first rating is unsatisfactory because I received the device brand new and when I started using it I noticed a defect or artifact in the viewer and it also scanned the artifact into a digitally stored file. It's not a great first impression, says a lot about quality control, but it does have a 'Made in China' sticker on it. The cleaning brush that came with the machine was ineffective in removing the bug that was causing a dark black shape on every slide I tried to scan. I sent the viewer back to Revain and they sent me a replacement. I will add a new review, after I received a replacement. I like the speed at which I can scan slides. The included instructions are very sketchy and don't really help with proper technique. I'm still wondering how I'm going to scan my 8mm film for example: advance the film frame by frame or can I swipe it at slow speed to digitize the film? Hope this helps someone.
