Optics still work fine

Desperate for a way to connect my audio headphones to a Samsung TV, I tried this small, nondescript converter and it worked. months It was installed. I have two wireless headphones (RCA 900MHz) with a base unit connected to an audio source via a 3.5mm jack. I connected the converter to the TV's optical (and AC) audio output, connected the 3.5mm jack on the headphone base to the converter's output, turned on the TV, set the audio to "optical" and turned on the headphones . (both) and viola, I had a sound, a beautiful sound. This converter is a gem of discovery. (I also discovered something about my Samsung UHD Smart TV. I thought that sound can only be played through one output at a time, i.e. sound is output to the TV speakers or to the receiver or to the optical device, but no more than one at a time. After messing around with the TV settings with the converter running, I found that it can transmit sound to both the receiver and the optical output simultaneously. [So now people can enjoy headphones AND 5.1 receiver sound watch TV.]) Sound is output to the TV speakers, or to the receiver, or to the optical device, but not more than one at a time. After playing around with the TV settings with the converter running, I found that it can transmit sound to both the receiver and the optical output at the same time.
