Don't worry.: Brake Tools

Save some money and do it the old fashioned way with a partner who operates the brake pedal. I gave that up. It doesn't have the suction power needed to pump liquid through the lines. Also, a small collector's cup weighs about the same as a postage stamp and cannot be held upright. It turns around with the pipe and turns upside down. A complete waste of money.

  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • When in doubt

Good, but. in Brake Tools

Product works well. However, the pipe and/or cylinder head brackets may not be fully seated on the caliper exhaust valve and will draw in air while brake fluid is being drawn. Therefore, the constant flow of bubbles in the drain pipes can give the false impression that there is a problem with the entire braking system when in fact the air is the result of an imperfect fit of this assembly on the exhaust valve. . When you're done, recommend deflating by gravity to ensure the bubbles are the…

Works exactly as described and exceeded my expectations!

Works great! It worked exactly as he said and it has a very strong vacuum. It exceeded my expectations! The handles are made of die-cast aluminum and are easy to hold! It has a brass vacuum tube with brass fittings. The pressure gauge is accurate and the only plastic parts are the attachment and the tip of the pressure release button. All in all a great product with no complaints! Thank you for actually designing a product that works like you say it does! Many other products here claim to work…

The pump was used once, cleaned and installed.

The pump used once, cleaned and put back in the case. The next time I tried to use it, it wouldn't hold a vacuum. I took it apart to find a plastic plunger and plastic housing for the "umbrella valve" (one-way valve). The plastic of the umbrella is cracked. There are no parts or kits. Don't let the metal/brass body fool you, this thing is junk plastic and not good for in-car use. Take the Actron block which looks identical, the insides are brass with rubber seals. If seals fail, Actron still…

Good product but may not work with all braking systems

This is a great little pumping system. It has all the parts you need, the pump is easy to use and the pump is made of brass not plastic. Slip-on boots are a bit stiff on metric fits, but the smallest fit for me. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I could barely make it bleed. I think but not sure, it depends on where I live. I'm at 8000 feet (1700 meters?) and I could only draw 20 in/L when it was stuck right at the pump. In reality this translates to 18-19 ips and it was just…

Exhaust valve tip

I tried the kit on a 1966 Pontiac Lemans. Attachments that need to be connected to the outlet valve were not used on this vehicle. Due to the design of the vehicle at the vent point and the short exhaust valve, the nozzle is mostly useless. Housing, pump, hose(s) and other parts are in order and the functionality is very useful. However, attachments will not function properly on this vehicle. If you could design another bracket that prevents the hose from rotating when the exhaust valve is…

Works perfectly. in the brake tool

I like it. Great price and in a plastic case. Works as I expected. Useful for my yearly ritual of flushing and replacing old DOT 3 brake fluid with new fluid. I had to lubricate the wheel bearings around the caliper bleeders to keep air from escaping through the threads when the valve is opened with vacuum. The collection cup that the liquid drains into has an o-ring on the lid and you need to make sure it sits in the groove before sealing the lid onto the cup. You also need to keep the bowl…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!

  • Not as thick as other picks

Cheap, the pump fell apart, but some accessories are good.

Maybe I'm unlucky, but this kit pulls through. On my 2012 Nissan Frontier, the smallest of the three vent plugs barely held. The bleed valve is very small, hard (not resilient), and prone to leaking. Worst of all, when trying to pump the FIRST caliper, the pump fell apart. He collapsed. He fell apart! The needle trigger under the nozzle you use to break the vacuum started leaking and then just fell apart. The head came off and the pin was sucked into the pump housing. Completely broken and…

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Some difficulties

I have successfully used this kit to upgrade an old dot3 from my 2005 Sienna. I was a little hesitant to buy it due to some bad reviews and I can offer some clues as to what happened when changing the brake fluid. One of the main complaints is that the pump cannot suck up old liquid. The pump creates 10-15 vacuum with 10-15 compression. So if it can't generate that vacuum, check the connections first. Worst of all is the connection between the auto bleeder and the hose. If yours is rusty, clean

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
