This eyecup is amazing. I have poor vision in my dominant eye (right) and it hurts to focus in the viewfinder because the outside light is obscuring my vision. The eyecup blocks side light and makes it much easier to focus on points in the viewfinder. In addition, it is made of soft plastic and can be rotated in a circle to suit any eye. I bought this because the screen of my new Canon T3i was always dirty with oil from my nose when looking through the included viewfinder. I have a protective film on the screen but I kept cleaning it. This eyecup keeps my nose off the screen almost completely and the screen stays a lot cleaner.
