Seems to be helping, but slowly

This product says "fast acting" on the bottle. Not fast enough for me. Depending on the size of your aquarium, you dose this product every three days until it kills the algae, and then dose once a week. It took three doses (9 days) to kill an average amount of algae that left a film in my tank. I then had to use an algae scraper to remove the film from the dead algae. If it worked faster I would give it a higher rating. This is a mediocre product at best and I wish I had bought something else.

Pros
  • Effectively controls the following types of algae: Green Algae (Cladophora), 'Red Slime' (Oscillatoria/Spirulina Great), 'Brown Algae' (Cyclotella) in marine aquariums with live corals, invertebrates and fish.
Cons
  • High Price

NOT FOR SALTWATER TANK!

NAVY ON LABEL MEANS NOT FOR USE IN SALTWATER TANK, EVEN THE WORD MARINE IS USED ON THE BOTTLE LABEL. USE "STERILIZER" FOR SALTWATER TANK! I CALL ARTISTIC AQUARIUMS IN CHANDLER, AZ AND THEY SAID THIS PRODUCT IS FOR A FRESHWATER TANK ONLY. HE TOLD ME TO REPLACE THE EXTERNAL STERILIZER LAMP, WHICH I WILL DO IMMEDIATELY. THERE IS AN UNVERIFIED BUYER WHO RECEIVED AMAZING REPORTS ABOUT THIS PRODUCT WORKING GREAT FOR A WEEK - A COMPLETE LIE! IT'S EASY TO BUY A PRODUCT AND THEN LIE ABOUT IT. IF OVER…

Pros
  • No harm to snails, clams, scallops, shrimp, anemones, holothurians, feather dusters, coralline algae, soft corals, hard corals and other invertebrates when used in salt water.
Cons
  • Doubtful

*UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE* Sorry, after extensive testing we determined that the loss was most likely due to a broken hydrometer. Our salinity was sky high after the water change! My deepest apologies. Maybe I'll try again soon and update my results. I have been using this product in my 125 gallon reef tank for the past 2 weeks. I drank 12ml every three days. This is an overview of the marine version used in a marine aquarium. This tank was set up over 1.5 years ago and I had my first HSG breakout…

Pros
  • Includes one (1) 16 ounce bottle of API MARINE ALGAEFIX Algae Control
Cons
  • Some bugs
